Stage 3

Writing 

This term, our Stage 3 writers are tackling a vital environmental issue: the traditional fire-stick farming land management practice.

Using the PEEL structure (Point, Evidence, Explain, Link), students are forming powerful persuasive letters, advocating for traditional practices for healthy ecosystems, boost biodiversity, and prevent catastrophic bushfires. To bring their arguments to life, students will be stepping into the spotlight to orally present their proposals directly to their peers. It’s a fantastic opportunity as they work towards mastering both persuasive writing and public speaking!

KLA: PDH

Nearing the end of our 'Growing Changes' unit from Terms 2 and 3, Stage 3 explored how personal beliefs shape who we are! Students ranked 16 core values from 1 (most important) to 16 (least important), then shared and compared their lists with classmates. It was a fantastic exercise in self-awareness and respect, sparking great discussions and helping students realise that while we all hold values, the unique order we place them in reflects our individual identities. 

Science Discovery Day Excursion

Early this term, all of stage 3 attended a UNE science discovery day at Quirindi High School. Students were split into 4 different groups amongst other stage 3 students from two other schools, where each group got to experience different science-based activities; 'Science Meets Art', 'Busy Bots', 'Dynamic Bodies' and 'Pig power Tower'. Students had a great morning experiencing all these activities, learning new ideas and getting to experiment with science.
