Principal's Message

Dear Families,

Thank you for all of the kind words of encouragement, prayers and offers of support. I am so lucky to be part of such a warm and caring community here at COHR. My last day before the surgery was Tuesday and I will be away for approximately six weeks. I aim to return at the end of the year to see the children before the Christmas break.

In my absence Jo Cowan will be acting principal and I know all the staff will come together to ensure a smooth end to the year. I will be in communication with the staff and I will still oversee all plans for 2026.

“ May the Saints hold you in their love and bless you with grace always.”

This coming weekend the Church celebrates All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day. All Saints’ Day is celebrated on Saturday, November 1st. The saints in heaven have given us the knowledge and courage that it is possible to spend our lives being faithful to God and charitable and compassionate toward one another.

November 2nd

“ For those who sleep in Christ, Life has changed, not ended.”

Sunday, November 2nd is All Souls’ Day. All Soul’s is a day we pray for all the faithful departed that they may rest in peace. We pray for those who need forgiveness for their sins and for those who yearn to see the face of God. We remember in a special way our relatives and friends who have died, in the hope that they now share in God’s everlasting life.

Our Challenge:

November opens a season of the year when our thoughts turn toward those who have died, our hope of eternal life and the gratitude we feel for God’s gifts and the charity we give to others. The Catholic Church calls us to remember and pray for those who have gone before us and to carry out and respond to this spiritual work of mercy.

By remembering in a special way we are reminded of all who have lived as faithful Christians and who continue to encourage us in our own faith. Death is not the end but a beginning of a new life because we share in the resurrection of Jesus.

As we reflect on the feelings related to death, we are reminded of the importance of spreading light and not darkness and the need for greater emphasis on our own relationships with each other. Every life and every death has an impact on someone else. We will be remembered as we have lived.

World Teachers' Day - Hats Off to Teachers

Friday, 31st October 2025

World Teachers’ Day is celebrated in Australia on Friday, October 31st. This day provides us with the opportunity to recognise and celebrate the amazing contributions teachers and staff have made and continue to make in our school and wider communities.

So children in Prep-Year 4 are invited to wear a different hat to their school hat as a sign of thanks and appreciation to their teachers.

Our Kanga cricketers and the Year 5/6 students going on the excursion should please wear their school hat as they are going off site. But you may like to wear a funny hat to the quick assembly we are holding in the Courtyard at 9:00am. Parents are warmly invited to the assembly if they would like to show their appreciation for our COHR teachers.

Christ Our Holy Redeemer School is blessed to have amazing teachers who are professional, well trained individuals with a passion for learning and developing young minds. They care deeply about the children they teach, striving to open their minds to new learnings, new possibilities and encouraging them to explore their own creativity. They are resilient, dedicated and compassionate.

I would like to take this opportunity to publicly thank our teachers and all staff for the enormous contribution they make to the life of our school. It is not only a pleasure to lead and work with them but a delight to witness the growth in each of them individually and the growth of our students entrusted into their care.

Please join with us in saying ‘Thank You’ to our teachers and staff who make Christ Our Holy Redeemer a happy and fun place to be.
