Italian

The students and I have together completed a wonderfully engaging year learning about Italy and the Italian language.

During Term 4 we learned about Italy's rich artistic culture by studying and reproducing famous artworks like Mona Lisa by Leonardo Da Vinci and composite faces by Giuseppe Arcimboldo.  Studying portraits by famous artists enabled the students to revisit and expand face and body vocabulary.

Students in Grades 3-6  widened their vocabulary by learning opposite adjectives and explored ways of including them in sentences using family members.

Grades F - 2  also learned some common adjectives

and enjoyed drawing and describing pictures of animals and people.

Each week all levels reviewed greetings, days of the week, months and seasons of the year, counting and colours, practising the use of this vocabulary in sentences.

Students in grades F - 4 consolidated their familiarity of vocabulary by singing rhymes and chants incorporating familiar words.

The A.N.P.S. Choir sang the Christmas song "Auguri di Buon Natale" at the school Christmas Concert and it was pleasing to hear many of the other students singing along merrily to the tune.

I would like to wish everyone a Buon Natale and a Felice Anno Nuovo
