From The Team
Our senior school students have had an exciting 2 weeks! Students represented our school at Division Tennis and Division Volleyball, demonstrating their skills, teamwork and sportsmanship. They also enjoyed a Wellbeing Show by Brainstorm Productions called The Protectors, performed by Max and Rebecca.
In Digi-Tech the students created a maze for their Mini Sphero’s and wrote the program to navigate their Mini Sphero from start to finish through the maze which included many different types of coding blocks. We are all looking forward to another 2 weeks of learning, collaboration and new experiences in the Senior School

Senior School Activities
Division Tennis
On the 16th of October, students represented Scoresby Primary School by attending division tennis.
We competed in the Knox division, engaging in competitive matches. Our opponents were challenging but our team persisted. We held our heads high as one of the other schools mentioned our team as one of the friendliest and politest competitors there.
The matches differed from singles to doubles, 10 minutes for each match.
Challengers came from separate schools, such as Templeton. Many of them had experience playing tennis before, while our school had little to none.
Throughout the day, our team stayed respectful to others, even when the competitors were difficult, and the weather was scorching.
Even though we didn’t place, our team tried their very best and did an outstanding job. Congratulations to every student who participated in this competition!

Division Volleyball
On Thursday 22 October, the 5/6 volleyball teams headed to Maroondah Nets to compete in Division Volleyball. The students were excited and ready to play, eager to show off the skills they had been practising for weeks!
Both the boys’ and girls’ teams gave it their best effort throughout the day. Although both teams finished in last place, there were plenty of smiles, cheers and positive attitudes. The competition was tough, but our teams fought hard and came close in several matches.
The students also had the opportunity to make new friends, support one another and enjoy playing against other schools. All their weeks of training paid off, as they worked hard to earn their place at Division!
Congratulations to both teams for their effort, sportsmanship and determination. We are incredibly proud of everyone who represented Scoresby Primary School, and we look forward to seeing what our volleyball teams can achieve next year!

Wellbeing Show
On Thursday 22 October, the whole school gathered in the hall for an incursion by Brainstorm Productions called The Protectors, performed by Max and Rebecca.
The show featured two main characters, Leo and Serena. Leo was a young boy who was constantly bullied because people underestimated him and assumed he was weak. Although he might have seemed weak on the outside, he was strong on the inside. Serena, on the other hand, thought she was the best and bullied others without understanding how it felt to be on the receiving end.
Later, both characters attended Protector School, where they learnt how to stand up for themselves using their words without being mean. They discovered some amazing powers, including the Word Shield, which blocked insults from reaching them; the Translator Tool, which turned hurtful comments back on the person who said them; and Freeze and Breathe, which helped them pause and manage their reactions.
Next, they entered the Cyber Chamber, where they were tested on how to stay safe online. When a spam message appeared, they had to choose the safest response. They learnt that replying was the wrong choice and that they should instead screenshot, delete, report, block and tell a trusted adult.
The Protectors taught us important lessons about bullying, online safety, threats and how to stand up for ourselves and others. It was a fantastic example for all the students at Scoresby Primary School of how we can use our words and actions to make a positive difference. The show was fun and entertaining while also teaching us some valuable lessons.
We would like to thank Brainstorm Productions for visiting our school and putting on such an amazing show. We had a fantastic time and hope to see you again soon. Keep up the great work!

Spheros
While the 5/6s have been busy designing and building their own Arcade Games, our 3/4s have been putting their problem-solving and creative thinking skills to the test by constructing their very own Sphero mazes!
Students have been carefully planning and building pathways, thinking about the challenges they could include and how to guide their Sphero robots from start to finish. Their next challenge is to use coding and programming skills to give their Spheros a set of instructions to navigate through the maze successfully.
This exciting hands-on learning experience encourages students to experiment, collaborate with their peers, troubleshoot problems and persevere when things don't go to plan. We can't wait to see their finished mazes and watch their Spheros in action!
