What an incredible start to the term!

Last week, Barrett house enjoyed their reward for the highest house points accumulated through Mighty Mary tokens. They enjoyed a yummy Zooper Dooper and an extra 15 minutes play time!

There has been an enormous amount of feedback about the wonderful team spirit everyone displayed at our Cross Country on Friday. Although this is an individual event, House Teams were awarded for participation as well as achievement. It was heartwarming to witness the cheering and encouragement and it made me so proud to be a part of the St Mary's community!

Student Voice

Our Student Voice leaders held their first class meetings and the feedback has been fantastic. It was all very official and they stepped up as leaders; they followed their agendas and took minutes.

Their first task for the year was to work with Mrs Black and myself to gather information around what students like and don't like about the playground, lunch clubs and canteen. This information will be valuable in planning and implementing changes across our school to benefit student engagement.

This year, we have had several students comment about the impact that purchasing canteen snacks has on their play time. The student voice leaders gathered data via an anonymous vote about whether students prefer to have a lunch order for everything or line up to purchase. Below is a table of the results -

From these results, the Student Voice team will meet with me and Mrs Black to brainstorm some ways that we can reduce the amount of time students are spending lining up to order.

As well as this, another issue was raised which is the concerning amount of rubbish we have on our playground on canteen days. So this will also be a point of discussion in our meeting.

Grade 5/6 Camp

In week 4 our year 5 and 6 students will head to Camp Rumbug in Foster for 2 nights. A reminder to please provide consent on NForma and return any medication forms to the office.

If you or your child have any concerns about attending camp, please reach out to your class teacher or myself.

We are very fortunate to have so many wonderful and experienced staff attending camp this year. Sometimes knowing who is going to be there can be settling for kids. A very big thank you in advance to:

Mr Gibson, Mrs Polites, Mrs Corfield (1 night), Mrs Aldag (1 night), Mrs May, Miss Geary, Miss Kirkpatrick and Mrs Faoro.
