Girls Soccer Team Crowned 2026 Woodlands Champions!

Congratulations to our School of the Good Shepherd Girls Soccer Team, who have once again etched their names into the history books by being crowned the 2026 Woodlands Division Champions! This incredible achievement marks back-to-back Woodlands Championships, following their victorious 2025 campaign.

The girls displayed outstanding teamwork, determination, and resilience throughout the day, playing an exciting and tenacious brand of football that ensured every player contributed to the team's success. Their commitment to supporting one another and playing as a united team was evident in every match.

The team was brilliantly led by captain Lia S, whose leadership and composure inspired her teammates throughout the tournament. In defence, Danielle M and Ava J formed a formidable partnership, consistently shutting down opposition attacks. The hardworking midfield trio of Chloe B, Ava V, and Isabella P controlled the tempo of the game and proved too strong for their opponents. Up forward, Edith F and Chaniece combined brilliantly to create numerous scoring opportunities, forming a dangerous attacking partnership.

Goalkeeper Quinn B was outstanding between the posts, commanding her penalty area with confidence and producing several important saves to keep her team in the contest. Off the bench, Allegra M and Lydia made valuable contributions throughout the day, bringing energy and determination whenever called upon.

Also a big thank you to Mr Marc who helped Mr P coach and support the girls throughout the day. To the parents and families who braved the ice, rain and wind we also thank you for coming to support us today.

The entire squad should be incredibly proud of their efforts, sportsmanship, and teamwork. We wish the girls the very best as they now progress to the Northern Metro Regional Finals, to be held later this term. We know they will represent our school community with the same passion, determination, and pride they have shown all season.

Outstanding Effort from Our AFL Gala Day Teams!

Congratulations to our Girls AFL and Boys AFL teams, who proudly represented themselves, their families, and the School of the Good Shepherd at last Thursday's Woodlands AFL Gala Day.

After being crowned Broadmeadows District Champions, both teams earned the opportunity to compete against the best schools in the Woodlands Division.

Boys AFL Team – Woodlands Runners-Up!

Our Boys AFL Team, made up of a talented mix of Year 4, 5 and 6 students, entered the competition determined to go one step further after falling just short in last year's Grand Final.

Coached by Nick I and Ms Elizabeth, the boys played with skill, courage and determination throughout the day, producing some outstanding football and working tirelessly for one another. Their teamwork, resilience and sportsmanship were evident in every match.

Despite a fantastic tournament, the boys were unfortunately defeated by St Carlos in the Grand Final. While the result wasn't what they had hoped for, they should be incredibly proud of finishing as 2026 Woodlands Division Runners-Up. The belief, determination and camaraderie they displayed throughout the day were outstanding and reflected the values of our school.

Girls AFL Team – 2026 Woodlands Champions!

The Girls AFL Team's journey was one of resilience and determination. After suffering a convincing loss in their opening match, the girls refused to let the setback define their day. Instead, they rallied together, showing incredible grit, courage and a commitment to one another that was inspiring to watch.

With every game, their confidence grew as they played selfless, team-first football, working tirelessly for each other and never giving up. Their determination was rewarded in the Grand Final, where they defeated St Carlos to be crowned the 2026 Woodlands Division Champions. A big thank you to Mick R who helped Mr P in the coaching box. (Essendon, I am available if you need me.)

This remarkable achievement sees the girls progress to the Northern Metro Regional Finals later this term, where they will once again proudly represent the School of the Good Shepherd.

Congratulations to all of our players, coaches and families for a fantastic day of football. Thank you for representing our school community with such pride, respect and outstanding sportsmanship. We wish our Girls AFL Team every success at the Northern Metro Regional Finals.

Library News:

Library Borrowing Timetable Changes

Please note that our library sessions will now run on a fortnightly basis. This change has been made to maximise classroom learning time while still ensuring students have regular opportunities to borrow and enjoy books.

To help your child make the most of their library visit, it is more important than ever that they remember to bring their library bag on their scheduled library day. This helps protect borrowed books and ensures students can borrow new books without delay.

Please check the school calendar for your child's library days and session times.

>Meet the Author Celebration — families will be invited to visit our school and enjoy reading our students' published books together.
