Message from Student Wellbeing Leaders: We are Safe, We are Learners, We are Caring
Hi Milgate Community!
We are the Wellbeing leaders of 2026, and we are excited to announce that the Learner token box has most definitely been filled up, thanks to everyone’s amazing efforts.
The school wide token system rewards children’s behaviour with a small ‘token’ of appreciation. They are categorised as learners, safe, and caring, while encouraging students to bring out the best in themselves.
Every week, the Wellbeing Leaders come around to every class to collect the class tokens. The tokens are small discs with cute images and colours that the teachers hand out to the students. We collect these tokens and put them in bigger boxes, just outside the staff room (feel free to take a look and see how we’re doing!). Once we fill up the box, us Wellbeing Leaders plan a special day where students can celebrate this achievement with their classmates.
The token system is a great way to show people that being safe and caring learners can make a difference. As previously stated, when boxes fill all the way up to the brim, the whole school will get to celebrate, either a free dress day, pj day, a movie, extra playtime etc. The tokens relate to the SWPBS (School Wide Positive Behaviour Program) system by helping students understand ways they can earn great rewards.
To earn Learner tokens, teachers will recognise students' amazing skills as learners, and the teachers will give the Learner tokens to the students. They can be a Learner by doing the correct tasks, showing initiative in learning, and doing anything else the teacher approves of.
To get a safe token, students can contribute by pushing in chairs, playing safely outside and making sure no one gets hurt. Students also need to be kind and use initiative to help others and do the right thing.
After a long journey of collecting many tokens, we have gathered and separated them into their categories, and it is quite obvious now that the learner token box has been filled up right to the brim with the safe and caring tokens, not very far behind. Therefore, we have decided that we should organise a lovely and special celebration to show gratitude and congratulate your child/children’s massive achievement! We will reward the school with a day of fun. This will include getting to watch a movie and even getting the grand opportunity to bring your own treats!
This day occurs on the last day of school (Thursday, 2nd of April)
Remember that school finishes at 2:30 pm and the Easter bonnet parade will be held on the same day.
Another massive thank you to all the students who contributed to this amazing day by earning tokens and being safe and caring learners. We can’t wait for the next celebration, that’s just around the corner! Keep it up, Milgate, because every token counts!
See you next term!
