Mrs Guy - Prep / 1 and Miss Thomas - Prep/1

We have had a wonderful last two weeks of school for Term One. In Literacy, we have been learning about all the letters of the alphabet, their most common sounds and blending those sounds to read and write words. We have been writing sentences with these words and drawing labelled picture s to match. We have learnt about characters, setting, beginning, middle and end of a fairytale, heros and villains plus the moral of the story. We have learnt about nouns and verbs, plus adjectives to describe the nouns.

In Maths we have been learning all about time. We have learnt about the days of the week, months of the year, duration of time such as seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months and years. We have sequenced what happens in a day such as having breakfast first, then lunch and lastly dinner.

In Geography we finished our topic of places that are special to us. In Health we finished our topic of feelings, how to recognise feelings and how to help ourselves get back to the happy feeling. In Design Technology we completed our unit on 'What Things Are Made Of' and in Auslan we completed our work on signing numbers t 20 and practised signing how we are feeling.

We enjoyed raising money for and learning about Epilepsy on Monday, now knowing what to do if we see someone who has an Epileptic seizure.

Well done to everyone who ran / walked in our annual Cross Country Run. Fantastic effort to everyone who was a Resilient Roo, trying their prsonal best or finishing the run.

We wish all our beautiful students and families a very happy Easter. We hope Easter Bunny spoils everyone. Enjoy your holidays, look after each other and we will see you in Term 2!

Mrs Murphy - Grade 1/2 & Mrs Monson - Grade 1/2

Wow what a busy 2 weeks we have had!!

We celebrated Harmony Day, where students learnt that we all belong, and we celebrate all of Australia's different cultures.

We have had fun with Crazy hair and sock day.
We have joined in Purple Day, where students have learned and are aware of epilepsy and how it can look, and what we can do. 💜💜.
We have had lots of fun participating in Cross Country. 👟👟

Literacy

In Literacy, we have been looking, when we write out a sentence, what sort of punctuation mark it could finish in. It could be a 🔴fullstop, a ❓question mark or an ❗exclamation mark.

We have started our unit on Fairytales, looking at who the characters are, the setting, the problem and the solution in the story. We have been working out who the villain is and who the hero is in the story.

The students have enjoyed learning about "Little Red Riding Hood".

Maths

We have finished our unit on time. Looking at analogue and digital clocks, and looking at the time to half an hour and the hour. ⌚⌚
