Book Week

We are so excited about Book Week next week! Let's spread the love of reading and celebrate the written word.

This year's Children’s Book Council of Australia’s 2026 theme is Symphony of Stories. 

Dress Up Day and Parade

• When: Monday 24th August 
• Where: Parade in the gym at 9.15am (parents/carers welcome)
• Gold coin donation for Reading Out Of Poverty (ROOP) charity.

All students are invited to bring a gold coin donation and come dressed as their favourite book character. Their donation will go to a very worthy charity, ROOP (Reading Out Of Poverty). To add to the excitement, we’re making it a competition. The class double that collects the most money, wins a class prize!  We’ll also hold our annual fun, school-wide parade in the gym, with prizes for the most creative costumes. Parents, are welcome to come and watch, please use the bleacher seating in the gym.

Book Fairs 

Online Mary Martin Book Fair 

• Shop the Mary Martin Online Book Fair - open until 23rd August  
• Bonus: PMPS Fundraiser (15% book sales goes to our school)!

Get a head start on your Christmas shopping, buy birthday presents or Father's Day gifts. Books available for everyone (not just kids) and 15% of book sales goes to our school. 

Visit the Mary Martin Online Book Fair and with every purchase over $30, you’ll go in the draw to win tickets to the first ever Melbourne Children’s Book Festival. 

Onsite Mary Martin Book Fair 

When: Monday 24th to Wednesday 26th August, 3:30-4pm

Where: Library

Pop into the Library next Monday-Wednesday afternoon to shop in person and collect your online orders. Plus, every purchase gets you a chance to win a Golden Ticket mystery prize.

Book sponsorship

As well as purchasing books for family and friends, you can support our students’ reading by sponsoring a book for our library.

Simply select and purchase a new book from the Book Sponsorship display in the Library (near the register) and it will become part of our library collection, available for all students to enjoy for years to come. Each sponsored book will include a “Kindly Donated” sticker acknowledging your generosity, and you'll leaving a family legacy within our school..

Live Theatrical Performance 

When: Thursday 27th August

Books to Life return with a live performance based on one of CBCA's top book titles Being Indy. It is always a favourite with the students.

Whole School Book Trivia Competition

The whole school Book Trivia Competition is back, where classes compete against each other with their amazing knowledge of books.  Exciting prizes awarded to the winning classes, with lots of giggles to be had and book knowledge to be shared. 

Daily Storytelling & Classroom Activities

Throughout the week, our students will enjoy daily storytelling sessions and thrilling classroom activities. We can’t wait to celebrate the magic of books with you, whilst also inspiring a life-long love of reading.
