Celebrating Excellence in Performing Arts at Derinya

This time last year, Frankston Arts Centre nominated Derinya Primary School when Drama Victoria was searching for leading schools to showcase.

Following this nomination, Drama Victoria interviewed our Performing Arts specialist, Lindi Morrison, and visited Derinya to develop a case study celebrating our outstanding Drama and Performing Arts program. Derinya was subsequently selected as one of six Victorian schools to be featured, an incredible achievement and a wonderful recognition of our school community.

Anyone who has seen Lindi in action knows how much passion, creativity and dedication she brings to her work. Through our Performing Arts program, she has created countless opportunities for students to perform, build confidence, collaborate with others and discover a lifelong love of the arts.

Lindi would undoubtedly be the first to acknowledge the many staff members who have supported our productions and Performing Arts program over the years. This recognition belongs to the wider team as well, but it is only fitting that we celebrate Lindi’s extraordinary contribution and the program she has worked so hard to build.

The case study highlights how Drama at Derinya helps students develop confidence, creativity, connection and a strong sense of belonging. It is something our entire school community can be immensely proud of.

Take a few minutes to read Drama Victoria’s feature: The Art of Learning: Quality Drama at Derinya Primary School.

Congratulations, Lindi, on this remarkable and well deserved recognition. We are incredibly fortunate to have you at Derinya!
