Foundation 2027 Enrolments

Foundation 2027 is open for enrolments at Scoresby PS, as placements are finalised early next term. We would greatly appreciate all applicants getting their online enrolments in before the cutoff date – July 31st, as it helps us plan for the following year.

Staffing for term 3

There are a few staffing changes starting term 3 at Scoresby PS for our community to be aware of. Lots of opportunities for people to learn and grow come with change, and that’s always a good thing in our books. We have a few staff changes happening next term.

Principal role

Nic has picked up an Acting Principal position at Weeden Heights Primary School for 7 weeks at the start term 3, while their substantive principal takes leave. To backfill the position at Scoresby, Sue will work Monday – Thursday for the 7 weeks and Kellie Symons will step into the role on Fridays.  It’s a terrific opportunity for all staff, and we wish Nic the all the best for her 7-week appointment.

4/5 A

Rachel Armstrong is moving to Regency Park PS starting next term, and we are very sad to see her go. Rachel has been a long-term teacher at Scoresby PS, and much loved by her students, our staff and our school community.

Mrs. Laura Koukoulas has been employed to replace Rachel. Laura has worked at SPS before as a CRT and a Digi-tech teacher. Laura attended planning day and had a handover with Rachel last week. We welcome Laura back to SPS for terms 3 and 4.

The arrangement for the second semester in 4 /5 A will be:

  • Mrs. Merran Maguire teaching 4 /5 A        Monday- Wednesday
  • Mrs. Laura Koukoulas teaching 4 /5 A     Thursday-Friday

Chaplain

Sheridan is also leaving SPS and will be moving into charity work. Sheridan has been at SPS for 3 years and will be missed by students and staff. We held interviews for a replacement last week and we are pleased to announce that Salinda Anuchiracheeva will be our new chaplain going forward.  We will confirm Salinda’s workdays and hours soon with our community. We look forward to Salinda joining us at SPS.

Transporting students to extracurricular events

There are many events that SPS participates in beyond the classroom that require transportation.  In the past we have organised buses, charging families for these events (sports days, VSSS, local excursions). The charge covers the cost of the event and the buses.

In the current climate buses have become very expensive with fuel issues and so on, and we have on occasion opted for private transport for our students.

We have a group of parents who have been really supportive and offered to help us out, and we greatly appreciate the help from them. This was very evident for our Hoop time excursion on Tuesday. We have staff that have also offered their time to help with transporting students to events.

We understand that many parents work, but if you could manage to help out with transport at one event, it would greatly help us to keep the costs of these extracurricular events down for all families.

Policies

As part of our regular review of school policies, we are currently updating our:

  • Complaints Policy
  • Student Engagement & Wellbeing Policy

Both policies are available to view on our school website.

We welcome feedback from our school community. If you would like to provide comments or suggestions on either policy, please email susan.hartley@education.vic.gov.au.

Thank you for your ongoing support and contribution to the continuous improvement of our school.

Child safety and wellbeing at Scoresby Primary School information for families and the school community

Scoresby Primary School is committed to providing an environment where students are safe and feel safe.  Our child safety framework explains how we support and maintain child safety and wellbeing at Scoresby Primary School.

It includes our:

  • Child Safety and Wellbeing Policy
  • Child abuse (including grooming) – identification and response, and
  • Child Safety Code of Conduct, which outlines acceptable and unacceptable behaviours for all staff and volunteers at our school.

Our students and families are important partners in providing a child safe environment. These regular newsletter reminders are one of the ways we ensure our school community is aware of:

  • our commitment to child safety, and
  • how to provide feedback or raise child safety concerns.

If you have any concerns about child safety at any time, please contact Sue Hartley on 97637484. Any child safety complaints or concerns are treated seriously. For more information about our school’s complaints process, see our Complaints Policy on the website.

We also welcome your ideas on ways we can improve our approach to child safety and wellbeing. If you have any suggestions or comments, please contact Sue Hartley at susan.hartley@education.vic.gov.au.

It’s been another terrific term at Scoresby PS. We have had lots of events and fun dress up days.
