Highlights of the Week!
New Zealand Ski Trip
The New Zealand Ski Trip was a fantastic opportunity for our students and staff to embrace new challenges, explore remarkable destinations and learn beyond the traditional classroom.
From the slopes of Mt Hutt to Cardrona and The Remarkables, students developed their skiing skills, supported one another and showed great resilience as they stepped outside their comfort zones.
The adventure also included memorable cultural experiences in Christchurch, a visit to the International Antarctic Centre, and time exploring Wānaka and its spectacular surroundings.

Year 8 Chalk Talk Takeover!
In this special episode of Chalk Talk, we’re joined by Year 8 History students Alex, Lucas and Ethan. As part of their Medieval History studies, the students selected an area that captured their interest and designed their own creative way to share their knowledge with the class.
Year 10 Cubby House Project
Congratulations to Harvey, who recently completed this impressive 1:10 scale cubby house as part of a Year 10 project.
The finished model showcases excellent planning, precision and attention to detail, reflecting the practical skills and creativity developed throughout the project. Well done, Harvey!
Aquatic Practices
Over the past 5 weeks students have been taking part in recreational fishing as part of their studies for Aquatic Practices.
Their unit has encompassed aspects of both recreational and commercial fishing, and we have bene fortunate enough to have the Brisbane River at our doorstep. Students in Year 11 have bene learning about the different types of fishing rods, line and equipment required to successfully catch fish.
They have also had to learn the art of patience and perseverance. We have also look at species abundance to ensure there was no overfishing in the local waterways.
Building Skills and Confidence with TRACTION
Congratulations to our Balmoral students who recently completed the TRACTION program!
Throughout the program, students worked closely with their mentors, developed practical skills and built their confidence in a supportive, hands-on learning environment. It was wonderful to see their enthusiasm each week and the pride they took in their progress.
The group also had the opportunity to meet former Balmoral mentor Kent Ohori, who recently achieved a Guinness World Record after completing the Sydney Marathon dressed in a beer-can costume.
Thank you to the TRACTION team and mentors for providing our students with such a positive and rewarding experience.
On Wednesday evening the Year 7 and 10 Music Academy classes put on their Showcase concert ‘Broadway meets Hollywood,’ where they celebrated their hard work, dedication and talent by performing songs from their Musical and Film Music units.
Each student performed a solo and a duet. Congratulations to all students involved, we’re very proud of you all.
Year 8 Drama
Melodrama Mayhem with chase scenes, kidnap plots and devious schemes entertained parents and students in Term 1. Evil villains, bumbling sidekicks, gangsters, princesses, witches and heroes wove tales that had the audience laughing, gasping and applauding.
Stolen Girl, a play exploring the strength of family and culture in challenging times was devised, scripted and staged in Term 2. Parents and students laughed, teared up and celebrated as the story of a resilient young girl faced many challenges as she made her way back to her home.
In Term 3, Year 8 Drama Class performed at Bulimba State Primary School for the Preps, 1s and 2s. We had so much fun! The audience was really engaged and joined in with the songs and actions. We taught them valuable lessons about safety, friendship, respect and listening. It was a lot of work and we rehearsed before and after school and during break time to make sure our nursery rhyme performances were excellent. The laughter of the children made it all worthwhile.
