Our commitment to keeping every child safe, supported, and heard
The Child Safe Standards are compulsory minimum standards for all Victorian early childhood services and schools. They help ensure we are well prepared to protect children from abuse and neglect. At our school, we see child safety as a shared responsibility and we value the voice of our community. We welcome your input and feedback to help us continually strengthen our processes and practices, so every child feels safe, supported, and respected.
Child Safe Standard 3 – Child and Student Empowerment requires schools to ensure that children and students are empowered to participate in decisions that affect them, feel confident to express their views and concerns, and know that their opinions will be listened to and taken seriously.
At Roxburgh Homestead Primary School, students are encouraged to have a voice in their learning, wellbeing and school community. Students are provided with opportunities to share their ideas and feedback through student leadership, classroom discussions, surveys, student voice activities and participation in school decision making.
The school also provides weekly assembly update videos shared via YouTube, ensuring students and families are kept informed about school activities, achievements and important information. Students are encouraged to speak up, ask questions, raise concerns and identify trusted adults they can approach for support. Staff listen to and respond to student views and concerns in an age appropriate and respectful manner. |
