Basketball

1st V and 2nd V Basketball Update

Trials for the 2026/27 1st V and 2nd V Basketball squads have now been completed, and both squads have been selected. Thank you to all students who attended the trials and demonstrated such a high level of commitment, effort and sportsmanship throughout the process.

At this stage, the 1st V squad will train on Monday mornings and Friday afternoons. As we move closer to the start of the season, training schedules may be adjusted to align with team requirements and competition commitments.

Information regarding the 2nd V squad training schedule will be communicated following the completion of the Winter ISA Finals in Week 5. We anticipate these sessions commencing shortly thereafter.

All training sessions, venues and any schedule updates will be published on Clipboard, and families are encouraged to check the platform regularly for the latest information.

We congratulate all students selected in the squads and look forward to an exciting season ahead.

ISA Basketball 2026/27 Registrations

Clipboard registrations are OPEN

Thank you to the families who have already completed their registration for the upcoming ISA Basketball season. Your prompt response is greatly appreciated.

At this stage, registrations have been slower than anticipated. As we are required to submit and confirm team nominations with the ISA in the coming weeks, we ask all families intending to participate to complete their registration as soon as practically possible. Clipboard registrations will close on Friday 28 August.

Please note that team caps are once again in place this year. Families are strongly encouraged to register early to avoid disappointment, as places cannot be guaranteed once team limits have been reached.

Important Information

  • Any Year 7 student who participated in the Term 1 Preseason Competition is not required to register for the upcoming season. All Year 7 students wishing to join are welcome.

  • SPX will aim to field A-F teams in each age group where numbers permit. If numbers remain low, we will reduce the numbers of teams entered to ISA.

  • In the 13s and 14s age groups, we also run internal development squads for players who are not selected in an ISA team. All internal development squad games are played at Oxford Falls on Saturday mornings.

13s–17s Grading Information

Please see the draft Basketball Grading Schedule below.

Please note that due to ongoing works in both the SPX Gym and at Oxford Falls, all grading times, dates and venues remain subject to change. Any amendments will be communicated promptly to students and families via the usual school communication channels.

Students are only eligible to attend grading sessions if they have completed their registration through Clipboard.

All grading updates and additional information will also be published on the Basketball section of the Canvas Cocurricular Page. Families are encouraged to monitor Canvas regularly throughout the grading period for the latest information.

As the 2026 Rugby season comes to an end the College would like to thank all our players, coaches, parents and supporters for another fantastic rugby season. Your commitment and enthusiasm continued to make St Pius X Rugby such a strong and successful program.

Congratulations to all teams this year on an outstanding season, achieving some memorable victories and representing the College with pride both on and off the field.

A special thank you to the SPX Rugby Committee for their incredible support throughout the year. Their generous contribution towards training equipment, specialist coaching, and the organisation of a fantastic Rugby Dinner has had a significant impact on our program. We are grateful for their ongoing dedication and commitment to the growth and success of SPX Rugby.

Looking forward to what 2027 brings and thanks again to everyone who played a part this season.

Mr Justin Gates - Rugby Convenor

Squash

Thank you to everyone who came to support the players for the first round of the Junior Pennant. I was impressed to see our students there early on the courts warming up before their games. It was a tough round with a skilled opposition, yet our students played some incredible shots and kept toe to toe with St Andrew's College in each game played at Elanora. The big serves seemed to be the difference. There were some thrilling moments in the final games where Liam Spatola fought hard, playing a good tactical game to win his games in the 4th set and Lachlan Chueng played some great shots. The students played with the spirit we instil at Pius and I’m proud of their efforts.

With both wins and losses from our teams, all students displayed good sportsmanship on the court. A special mention to Patrick Buono and Lance Meng who played as solo teams on the weekend, they played amazingly well.

Mr Richie was impressed with the efforts of the SPX 2 team of Eric Park and Max Sunjaya who had a hard-fought win.

Tennis

The ISA tennis season concluded last Saturday with a mixed bag of results. Most pleasing however has been the improvement in tennis from Division 12 all the way up to Division 1. I would like to congratulate all students who committed to training and worked on their game. My thanks goes to the teachers, parents and supporters for your support throughout the season.

Our Division 1 boys; Adrian, Caleb, Boston, Jake and Lachlan finished in second place and will meet Oakhill in the Final this Saturday at Blacktown Tennis Centre. The team would certainly appreciate any support from the other ISA tennis players. Play starts at 8:30 am and they are on Court 1.

NSTA Tennis

Those students interested in summer NSTA tennis (Term 4 and Term 1 2027), please sign up on Clipboard ASAP. Gradings will commence at the beginning of September. More information to come.
