The Feast of the Assumption
Loving God,
On this Feast of the Assumption,
we give thanks for Mary, the mother of Jesus and our mother in faith.
Her life of trust, courage, and compassion
inspires us to follow Christ with open hearts.
May her Assumption remind us of the hope You promise - the fullness of life with You. Bless our school community
with Mary’s spirit of gentleness, strength, and joy.
Help us to bring Your love into our families,
our classrooms, and our world.
Amen.
On Saturday, 15 August, the Church celebrates the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. This is considered a Holy Day of Obligation in Australia. A day when Catholics are called to participate in Mass to recognise and honour the belief that Mary, at the end of her earthly life, was taken body and soul into heaven.
For Catholics, the Assumption is a sign of hope and promise. Mary’s life of faith, courage, and trust in God shows us what it means to follow Christ wholeheartedly. The feast invites us to look to Mary as a model of discipleship, a mother who walks with us, and a reminder that God’s grace transforms ordinary lives in extraordinary ways.
As a College, we will share a prayer service on Friday morning, but you are invited to view the local Mass times at your local Parishes. This can be done following this link: https://www.bbcatholic.org.au/parishes/find-a-church. Select your local Church and then look for the Mass times (these Mass times are specific to each church).
Youth Mass
All students are invited to join us for Youth Mass which is held at Our Lady of Dolours Church on Sunday afternoon at 5:30 pm. This is a wonderful opportunity to share Mass and join in with our Pius X and Mercy community.
Year 12 Retreats
We wish our Year 12 students the best of luck as they travel to a variety of locations next week on their annual Retreat. This provides the opportunity for the students to pause and reflect in moments of prayer and contemplation after their Trail HSC Examinations.
Thank you in advance to the staff who will spend their week leading the students through the Retreat program. Experiences like these would not be possible without the caring and dedicated staff.
Father’s Day Mass
We’re seeking mothers from our wonderful SPX Community to help with cooking and serving at the Father’s Day BBQ in Chatswood on Friday, 4 September.
There are three one-hour shifts available, starting from 7:00 am through to 10:00 am.
If you’re able to assist, please add your name to the spreadsheet below.
Your support is greatly appreciated!
