Students across the school have been enthusiastically engaging in a range of Mandarin learning activities this term.
Foundation students have been learning to recognise and use numbers in Mandarin while also exploring Chinese myths and legends connected to Lunar New Year. Through storytelling and classroom discussions, students have been introduced to some of the cultural traditions behind this important celebration.
In Year 1/2 students are learning how to express different seasons and weather in Mandarin. They have participated in a variety of interactive activities, including games and craft, to help reinforce new vocabulary and make their learning both engaging and memorable.
Year 3/4 students are currently learning about travel and transportation in Mandarin. As part of this unit, they are planning their own travel experiences and practising how to describe their journeys using the language they have learned.
Year 5/6 students are exploring the topic 'My Culture and My Languages'. Students have designed their own language and cultural profiles in Mandarin and presented them to the class, sharing their linguistic backgrounds and reflecting on the diverse cultures within our school community.
It has been wonderful to see students building their confidence in Mandarin while also developing an appreciation for language and culture.
