Wellbeing and Inclusion Update

RICH Value Focus: Innovation
At Athol Road Primary School, we pride ourselves on being responsive to our students and continuously seeking ways to improve our practice, strengthen engagement with our community, and support both student learning and wellbeing.
A wonderful example of this in action is Reading Rocks, a program currently being implemented by Amanda Malins (Year 1/2 teacher) and Ella Mechelen (Speech Pathologist). This innovative initiative invites parents and carers into the school to read with small groups of students in their home language.
The program supports language development, strengthens students’ connection to their culture and identity, and fosters meaningful partnerships between school and home. It has been incredibly rewarding to see the joy, confidence and engagement from students, as well as the strong sense of connection being built within our community.
We are still in the early stages of implementation, however we have already had a number of families involved and the impact has been very positive.
A big thank you to the parents and carers who have generously given their time to be part of this program. We truly value your involvement and the richness you bring to our school community.
If you would like to learn more or get involved, please see the flyers below.
Connected, supported, thriving.
