Burnie Primary Student Leaders

 News Report

This year, we have had three major events: the Dedication Service, the Athletics Carnival and the 50th Year Anniversary, with lots of fun in between.

To start the year, we participated in the Dedication Service at the Ulverstone Campus. During the service, last year’s Year 12 students were awarded their academic achievements. We praised God through singing powerful songs performed by the Ulverstone Campus High School Band.  Mr Alwyn Terpstra spoke to us and told us about where he came from and where he used to work, as well as giving a devotion.

This Term, we also had the Athletics Carnival at the Penguin Sports Centre.  We all participated in the events including the discus, javelin and all the running races. We had so much fun cheering on our teammates and encouraging everyone to join in. Unfortunately, the day came to an end, and these were the scores: in first place was Wesley with 1400 points, in second place was Luther with 1316 points, and last but definitely not least is Carey with 1276.

The last and most important event of the Term was the 50 Year celebration events and Gala dinner. There were two open school events with one at Ulverstone Campus and one at Burnie Campus. The Marimba group enjoyed playing their songs while the visitors walked around the playground and classrooms.  There was also a church service at Ulverstone which Benjamin and Erin had the privilege of reading some verses from Psalm 83.

This Term, we have been doing Worship Wednesday that has been led by Mrs Fa’ase’e, Mr Melville, Mr Chan and Mrs Polden. We have also been doing Fitness Friday which is lead and organised by the student leadership team. In Playgroup, we have lots of new and returning families coming in, while Mrs Gibson, Mrs Jewell and two Year 5/6 students help out.

This Term, Erin, Quinn and Benji helped in the kitchen with the parents making breakfast for the NAPLAN students.
