House Singing
Lucas Collins, Head of Junior School
The Junior School celebrated a brand new event, House Singing, on Friday 7 November. Prep to Year 6s joined their House teammates in singing a randomly-selected contemporary song, complete with actions, costume and prop items.
Each House performed enthusiastically to an appreciative audience of their peers, teachers, parents and special friends.
The audience was treated to four lively songs: 'Unwritten' by Natasha Beddingfield (Barrett) , 'Dancing Queen' by Abba (Burman), 'Firework' by Katy Perry (Fethers) and 'High Hopes' by Panic! at the Disco (Fysh).
Teams were judged by Mrs Bull and Mr Abell on key aspects of their performance including enthusiasm, creativity and vocal strength.
While every performance brought forth broad smiles and plenty of claps and toe-taps from our audience, it was the Barrett Choir who were ultimately adjudged to have delivered the standout performance of the day.
We look forward to House Singing becoming a regular part of our Junior School House Activities schedule. A huge thanks to all Junior School staff for their support, with particular acknowledgment of our House Activities Coordinator, Ms Soler, and our Junior School Music Coordinator, Miss Radford, for ensuring this new event was such a success.
Speech and Drama Concerts
On Wednesday 5 November, Dalton Hall came alive in a drama extravaganza as our Speech and Drama students took to the stage.
Two concerts were held across the afternoon and evening, featuring a variety of solo monologues, small group performances and larger Drama Ensemble pieces. Almost 70 students from ELC to Year 11 participated in the performances, showcasing their wonderful talent and creativity.
Congratulations to all students for their hard work and dedication, and thank you to our Speech and Drama teacher, Ms Kathryn Nelson, for her guidance and support.
Petite Pianists Soirée
On Monday 10 November, almost thirty budding young pianists from ELC to Year 2 participated in the Kilvington Petite Pianists Soirée.
This was a wonderful opportunity for our youngest pianists to share their hard work with friends and family while gaining performance skills and confidence. We look forward to seeing the development of these young musicians next year!
A special thanks to our amazing piano teachers for their work in nurturing these young musicians.
