Principal's Column

A message from Mr. Gatt, Miss. Slaymaker & Mrs. Richardson

It's hard to believe we have already past the half way point of Term 3!

BOOK PARADE

This week is Book Week! To celebrate we had our annual Book Week Parade today, as well as Author Visits and the Book Fair throughout the week. It was great to see the community come together this morning with many of our students and staff across the school dressing up as their favourite book character and having the books on show! Thank you to all our families for preparing for this event and for attending this morning. Here are some pictures from our parade.

ATTENDANCE

This term we have began tracking our daily student attendance across each year level and across the school. This will assist us in being able to support students and families further as we see patterns across the school, cohorts and individual classes!

Just from this data set you can see that we had lower attendance across most cohorts on Monday. This has been a pattern for the majority of the term, so what is it with Mondays? Monday's set up the week of learning ahead and we also have our fortnightly SWPBS and Learning briefings with all students.  It is important that students are at school everyday, including MONDAYS, even if they may be a little late, it is still important that they attend school for the day.

If you are having an issue getting your child/ren to school on a Monday, please reach out as we are more than happy to assist you and your family.

STAFFING UPDATE

Today was Tess Finnemore's last day at Westgrove for a little while as she is commencing family leave. We wish her and her husband all the best with the arrival of their baby in the coming weeks!

PARENT/CARER SURVEY

The 2024 Parent, Caregiver and Guardian Opinion Survey is available to complete online until Friday 30 August 2024. The survey seeks feedback on school climate, community engagement in learning and teaching practices for student engagement and outcomes.

Thank you to the families who have already completed the survey. We currently have 96 surveys completed and would love it if we had at least 100 of our families provide their feedback (please only complete one survey per family)!

2025 ENROLMENTS - ALL YEAR LEVELS

Enrolments for any child looking to start Prep (or any year level) in 2025, are continuing to be accepted so please contact the office to commence this process.

We are still holding regular school tours, so if you or anybody you know would like to attend one please register by contacting our office. These tours are available for all prospective families.

DISTRICT ATHLETICS DAY

On Tuesday we had 46 of our students across Years 3-6 participate in various events at the District Athletics Carnival at the VU Athletics Track in Werribee. We are super proud of our students efforts and how they represented Westgrove and displaying our school values in the community.  We would like to congratulate the children on this achievement all the best to those who will progress to the Division meet.
