Dear St Michael’s School families,
PRAYER
This coming Sunday, 7th June, is the Feast of Corpus Christi, which celebrates the gift of Jesus in the Eucharist. It reminds us that Jesus is truly present with us in Holy Communion and nourishes us with His love. This special feast invites us to give thanks for the Eucharist and to live as people of faith by sharing Christ’s love, kindness and compassion with others each day.
Loving Jesus,
On this Feast of Corpus Christi,
we thank You for the gift of the Eucharist.
Through Holy Communion, You are always with us,
guiding us with Your love and filling our hearts with peace.
Help us to follow Your example
by showing kindness, generosity and compassion
to everyone we meet.
May we recognise Your presence in our families,
our friends and all members of our community.
Bless our school and help us to grow
in faith, hope and love each day.
Amen.
VINNIES WINTER APPEAL
Thank you to our families for your donations of various items to our Vinnies Winter Appeal. Our Well Being and Social Justice student leaders will help to gather the donations and have them ready to present during our whole school Feast of the Sacred Heart mass. Read more about the details on our Religious Education page.
SACRAMENT OF EUCHARIST
This weekend, our parish and school community gathered to celebrate a truly special milestone as our children received the Sacrament of Eucharist for the first time.
The celebration was filled with reverence, joy and gratitude as each child approached the altar to receive Holy Communion. Surrounded by their families, teachers, friends and parish community, the children participated prayerfully and demonstrated a deep understanding of the significance of this sacred occasion.
First Eucharist marks an important step in a child's faith journey. Through the Eucharist, we are nourished by the presence of Jesus and strengthened to live as His disciples. It was heartwarming to witness the faith and reverence shown by our students as they received this precious gift.
We thank our families for their support and commitment throughout the sacramental preparation process, and we acknowledge the efforts of our staff and parish team who helped guide the children towards this important moment. A special thank you to Ray Hickey, our Religious Education Leader, as well as all our Year Three / Four teaching staff: Carolyn Wilson, Laura Dzanowski, James McIllroy and Jessica Casey.
May the children continue to grow in faith, love and service, always drawing strength from the Eucharist as they walk with Christ each day. We congratulate all of our First Eucharist candidates and pray that they will always treasure the memory of this beautiful and sacred celebration.

KINDER KIDS
Last week we held our first Kinder Kids session where we welcomed three and four year old kinder children to read and engage in some games with our Year Five students. It was wonderful to see excitement on so many faces as we made our way into the library. Our senior children showed such maturity in their care and guidance of our young visitors. We thank them for their leadership and can see already what fine Prep Buddies they will make and school leaders next year!
See below for our two follow up sessions:
MILO'S BIRTHDAY SURPRISEBRINGS LEARNING TO LIFE IN PREP
Today our Prep children enjoyed a wonderful celebration of learning as they participated in Milo's Birthday Surprise, a special event linked to our Little Learners Love Literacy phonics program.
Throughout the year so far, students have been working hard to learn and recognise the many sounds that make up our language. Milo's Birthday Surprise provided a fun and engaging opportunity for the children to revisit these sounds and celebrate the incredible progress they have made. As they joined Milo and his friends, students demonstrated their growing confidence in identifying letter-sound relationships and applying their phonics knowledge.
The highlight of the day was, of course, the party!
The children thoroughly enjoyed taking part in the celebrations, sharing in the excitement of Milo's special surprise and participating in a range of activities connected to the story. There were smiles, laughter and plenty of enthusiasm as the children celebrated their learning alongside their classmates.
We are so proud of our Prep students and the wonderful growth they have shown in their literacy journey. Events such as Milo's Birthday Surprise help make learning memorable and reinforce the strong foundations our children are building as readers and writers. A huge thank you to Miss Caitlin O'Donnell for the amazing work she has done with our Preps again this year!
LIBRARY LUNCH CLUB – A Quiet Space to Connect and Create
This term, our Lunch Club has been a wonderful addition to school life and has proven to be very popular with students across the school. Held in the library during the second half of lunchtime on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, Lunch Club provides students with a calm and welcoming space to enjoy some quiet time. Students can choose to colour, play board games, complete puzzles or read in a quieter environment.
Lunch Club offers students an alternative lunchtime option and supports wellbeing by providing opportunities for creativity, social connection, and downtime during the busy school day. Due to its success this term, we are pleased to announce that Lunch Club will continue to run in Term 3.
HOOP TIME EXCITEMENT BUILDS
We are looking forward to seeing our Year Three/Four and Year Five/Six Hoop Time teams represent our school later this month. Students have been enthusiastically attending training sessions, developing their basketball skills, teamwork and game strategies in preparation for the competition.
Hoop Time is a school basketball program that provides students with the opportunity to compete against other schools in a fun, inclusive and competitive environment. The program encourages participation, sportsmanship, teamwork and physical activity while allowing students to proudly represent their school.
It has been wonderful to see the dedication, commitment and excitement shown by all team members as they prepare for the upcoming matches. We know that our students will represent our school with pride, determination and excellent sportsmanship both on and off the court.
We wish all of our players the very best for their Hoop Time competition and look forward to hearing about their experiences and achievements. Good luck to all involved!
