From The Team

Hello to our wonderful Junior School Families,

What a fabulous fortnight we have had in the Junior School! Our students have been busy, engaged, and enthusiastic in their learning.

In Integrated Studies, students have loved exploring and learning about animals and have finished designing and constructing their own hybrid animals. It has been fantastic to see their imagination, problem-solving skills and creativity!

We also had lots of fun celebrating Crazy Hair Day! The students arrived with some incredibly creative hairstyles, and it was wonderful to see everyone getting involved.

During National Reconciliation Week, students participated in a range of learning activities to deepen their understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures and contributions. Through stories, discussions and classroom activities, students explored the importance of respect, inclusion and working together to build stronger relationships within our communities.

We hope all of our families enjoy the upcoming long weekend. A reminder that Tuesday 9th June is a Curriculum Day, so students will return to school on Wednesday 10th June. We look forward to welcoming everyone back for another exciting fortnight of learning!

What We Are Learning

Friendology

Over the next 2 weeks, F-2 students will reflect on friendship issues that are not always easy to identify as Friendship Fires and explore ways to avoid making others feel left out. They will practise respectfully saying, “No, because…” when a friend always wants to be their partner, and discuss how it feels to be bossed around while identifying appropriate responses. Students will also talk about tricky friendship situations and learn the importance of seeking support from a trusted adult when needed.

Reminders

  • Zoo Excursion Permission Reminder: Please complete the Compass permission for our upcoming Zoo Excursion on 15th June 2026. Permission is due by 10th June.

  • Nightly Reading and Word Practice: Please continue to read with your child each night and record it in their yellow reading log. Foundation students should also practise the focus letters and words in their My Wonderful Words book, while Year 1/2 students should practise a few words from their high-frequency word book.

Bee-Bot Adventures!

Our Junior School students have been busy bees exploring location and direction through hands-on coding with Bee-Bots! With lots of excitement, teamwork and problem-solving, students learned how to give their Bee-Bots clear instructions to travel from one place to another.

Delightful Donuts!

The F-2 students had a sweet time this week getting ready for National Donut Day! Students became donut designers as they decorated their very own delicious donuts. We also enjoyed the hilarious story 'Donuts: The Hole Story', which had us laughing while reminding us that it’s okay to be different and unique.

To continue the fun, students practised thinking outside the box by transforming a plain donut picture into imaginative creations such as superheroes, soccer players, animals and much more. We were so impressed by their creativity and fantastic ideas!

National Simultaneous Storytime

On Wednesday 27th May, our Junior School students participated in National Simultaneous Storytime, joining children across Australia to enjoy the story ‘Luna Roo’ by Tania McCartney at the same time as children around the country. After reading the story together, students completed a drawing activity inspired by the book.

Crazy Hair Day

Crazy Hair Day was a huge hit! We saw colourful creations and wild spikes to glitter, braids and gravity-defying styles. We had a few laughs throughout the day as students tried to squeeze through tunnels in PMP and join in activities while carefully protecting their spectacular hairstyles!
