Saint Mary MacKillop

Year 1 led us in prayer on Friday to celebrate the life of Australia’s first saint, Mary MacKillop. This year we celebrate 15 years since Saint Mary of the Cross MacKillop was canonised.

Let us be like Mary and “Never see a need without doing something about it”.

K-6 Family Mass

We welcome our whole school community to celebrate Mass this Sunday at 10am, followed by a morning tea held in our school hall. We hope to see you all there!

Around the Classrooms: Year 6

This week in year 6, students were asked to reply write a response to Pope Francis provocation:

“What would happen if we treated the bible like we do our mobile phones? If we turned around to retrieve it when we forgot it? If we carried it with us always, even a small pocket version? If we read God’s messages in the Bible, like we read messages in the mobile phone?” (Pope Francis)

If I Treated My Bible Like My IPad

If I treated my iPad like my Bible,

What would happen, what would I be.

Will school become more entertaining and fun?

Will my friends still like me?

Everyday would become a blast,

Living the word of God.

Spreading good news and positivity,

Even reading the bible with my dog.

While sitting on a bench during lunch,

My friends come up to me.

They ask how I got so happy and kind,

I said you could do it for free!

Enjoy your day reading your Bible,

Out in the calming sun.

Even before you go to sleep,

Just try it, it’s really fun!

So if I treated my Bible like my iPad,

What would life look like to me?

If reading peacefully is what I’d do,

That’s how I’d like life to be.

The Bible, an item so strong and powerful yet so overlooked as well. What if we were to replace our phones with it? People would walk around with it in their pockets, read God’s messages from it and travel with it everywhere they go. Instead of reading hurtful words from our phones, we will read inspiring ones from the Bible. Instead of tapping at glass, we will flip through pieces of paper. Our phones give us a sense of need and urgency, but instead our Bible will provide peace, safety and hope.
