Dear Parents & Parishioners,
Simon Sinek is a British-American author and inspirational speaker. He is the author of five books, including Start With Why (2009) and The Infinite Game (2019).
As a motivational speaker, Sinek has spoken at the UN Global Compact Leaders Summit in 2016, and at TEDx conferences several times, beginning in 2009.
Sinek is fascinated by the leaders who make an impact in the world, not to mention companies and politicians with the capacity to inspire. He has discovered some remarkable patterns in how they think, act and communicate.
Described as "a visionary thinker with a rare intellect," Simon Sinek explores how leaders can inspire cooperation, trust and change.
The following short video where Simon Sinek talks on the subject of "What makes the highest performing teams in the world?", was recorded in June 2020. The Navy SEALs aren't made up of the strongest, toughest, or smartest candidates. They all possess something much deeper.
While this talk was delivered six years ago, its message is as pertinent today as it was back in 2020.
Catholic School Parents Victoria (CSPV)
By offering practical tools and resources, CSPV empower schools and families to strengthen parent representation and boost engagement within their local communities. These include access to information and resources relating to curriculum and wellbeing.

100 Days of Learning in Prep
Congratulations to all our Prep children who will be celebrating 100 days of learning at OHR on Friday 7 August. Mrs Hollow and Ms Dening are planning a range of exciting activties to do with "all things 100".
Don't be surprised if you see a number of small senior citizens around the school on the day!
OHR Art Show
The OHR Art Show is on again this year. So, make sure you add the evening of Thursday 10 September to your calendar now. This evening is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the incredible artwork of our students. You will be truly amazed!

Child Safe Standard 6
During the month of July we are promoting Child Safe Standard 6: "People working with children and young people are suitable and supported to reflect child safety and wellbeing values in practice." I encourage you to head to the Child Safe Standardspage to learn more.
Learning Snapshots
As part of our Family Engagement focus this year, we are implementing Learning Snapshots which will take place regularly between 8:45 - 9am (at dropoff) or 3:00 - 3:15pm (at pickup), commencing this term. The Learning Snapshots are designed to best support you when working and guiding your child at home with their learning. Each session runs for only 15 minutes, thereby making them accessible for busy parents (and grandparents).
Our first Learning Snapshot was held on Tuesday afternoon at 3.00pm. Approximately 25 adults attended, comprising parents and grandparents. Refer to the Learning & Teaching News page for notes to support you, with ideas, when reading with your child.

Remember to save the date of Saturday 24 October in your calendar. This is the date of the OHR School Fete, branded as the OHR Spring Carnival.
Our organsing committe has been meeting regularly on a fortnightly basis.
