Christmas Art Awards Ceremony in Bathurst!

On Wednesday 9 September, nine of our ten finalists in the Christmas Art Competition travelled to Bathurst to take part in a beautiful Liturgy and attend the Diocesan Christmas Art Exhibition held at Cathedral School Bathurst.

Along with their accompanying teachers, the students had the opportunity to view the wonderful artworks created by talented Year 5 and Year 6 students from schools across the Bathurst Diocese. The standard of the artwork was outstanding, with students demonstrating incredible creativity and thoughtful interpretations of the Bible passages that inspired their pieces.

We congratulate our ten Catherine McAuley finalists on their wonderful achievement, as well as all of the students from across the Diocese whose artwork was selected for the exhibition.

A very special congratulations goes to Olly Piper, who was awarded First Prize overall for Year 5. This is an outstanding achievement and a tremendous honour. Olly’s artwork was beautifully created and demonstrated wonderful creativity, skill and a meaningful interpretation of the Scripture passage.

Congratulations, Olly, and well done to all of our talented Christmas Art finalists!   

Father Dong Visits

Our Year One students were very excited last week to attend the Parish Mass on Thursday morning and then welcome Fr Dong to play soccer with them in the playground at Morning Tea time! A fun time was had by all! I must say, Fr Dong has some great soccer skills!

St. Mary's Patronal Feast Day

On Sunday the 13th of September we were invited to join in the celebration of the St. Mary's Patronal Feast Day held at St. Mary's Church. Children from our school joined in Mass and then a procession of Mary from the Church to the playground of St. Mary's School. There we ate beautiful food and joined in the fun games and activities. Thank you to all who represented our school on the day. 

Our first ever Social Justice Night!

On Wednesday the 16th of September our school held it's first ever Social Justice Night in Kenna Hall. We listened to guest speakers from the St. Vincent De Paul Society and learnt about the prevalence of homelessness in Orange and the wonderful outreach programs Vinnies delivers to these people. We then shared a delicious meal together and made snack packs for our homeless to be distributed around Orange. The children enjoyed learning about what we can do to help our homeless and wrote some beautiful messages of hope to be put into our snack packs. It was a fabulous night! Thank you to all who attended.
