Principal's Report

Welcome to Term Four
Welcome back to Term 4. It has been lovely to hear students sharing the activities and experiences they enjoyed over the school holidays. We have a busy term ahead, with plenty of opportunities for learning, adventure and celebration.
This week, we welcomed SchoolsOUT! as our new OSHC provider. We look forward to working together to support our students and families.
On Monday, our girls softball team will compete in the Division Championship. We wish them all the best and look forward to hearing how they go.
Our Grade 5/6 students will head to Howqua for camp, while our Grade 1/2 students will enjoy their camp at Lady Northcote. Camps provide wonderful opportunities for students to build friendships, develop independence and try something new. Our Grade 1/2 students will also participate in their swimming program, and our Grade 5/6 students will complete their bike education unit, culminating in a long bike ride.
In November, we will welcome our incoming Prep students for their transition program. They will spend one morning a week at school for four weeks, getting to know our school, meeting other children and becoming more comfortable in their new surroundings.
Teachers are also preparing to write end of year reports. Over the next three to four weeks, they will work with students on assessments to help identify the progress they have made and their next steps in learning. Our whole school report writing day will be held on Monday 2 November. Students will not attend school on this day.
Other highlights this term include our annual House Orienteering event, which is always a day our students enjoy, a buddy hike for our Prep and Grade 6 students, and our annual Billy Cart Race.
Finally, we will celebrate our Grade 6 students as they graduate and prepare for the transition to secondary school. It’s a special opportunity to recognise their achievements and contributions to Macedon Primary School.
I look forward to sharing a positive and enjoyable final term with our school community.
Thank you to PFA
A big thank you to our PFA for organising the Colour Run on the final day of last term. It was a fantastic way to finish the term, and we really appreciate all the work that went into providing such a fun afternoon for our students. Thank you also to the parents who helped throw coloured powder and joined in the fun.
At the end of this year, some of the parents who have played an essential role in keeping our PFA running will be leaving our school. The PFA is looking for new members to help continue its wonderful work supporting our students and bringing our community together.
Next year will be a big year, with our fete planned for Term 4. If you would like to get involved or find out more, please contact the PFA at pfamacedonps@gmail.com. Every contribution is appreciated, and new members are warmly welcomed.
Students Leaving
As part of our preparations for the 2027 school year, we are beginning to plan our class structures, staffing and resources for next year. Having an accurate picture of our expected student numbers is an important part of this process.
If your child will be leaving Macedon Primary School at the end of this year to attend another school in 2027, we ask that you please let us know as soon as possible.
We would be very grateful for your assistance, as accurate enrolment information helps us plan effectively for the year ahead.
Attendance Update
Regular attendance is very important and makes a significant difference to student learning. In Victoria, all children aged 6 to 17 are required to attend school every day unless an exemption has been granted, and parents and carers must provide an explanation for any absence.
At Macedon Primary School, we are aiming for our average number of absences per child to be under 16.5 days for the year. If a child is averaging more than 5 days absent per term, Sue, our Mental Health and Wellbeing teacher, will contact families to discuss how we can work together to support improved attendance. We also ask that any family holidays during school time are discussed with the school and approved in advance.
| Number of Absences | Average Number of Absences |
| 2913 | 12.95 |
| Number of Late arrivals | Average number of Late arrivals |
| 1322 | 5.88 |
