STATE HOOPTIME - HERE WE COME!
We’d like to congratulate our 9 Junior All Star basketball team members who last Monday were able to fight off post-camp fatigue to come away with a 4 - 0 win/loss record over the day and make it through to State HoopTime. The boys are very grateful for the calm coaching efforts from Dad; Ben Elix, who was able to keep the boys focused over their four pool games. The team is now training hard in preparation for the State HoopTime finals set for Monday 1st December. We wish them all the very best for this exciting State tournament!
Team members: Seb S, Cooper V, Ben W, Liam L, Xavier E, Jakub B, Josh B & Ben S.
REGIONAL & STATE ATHLETICS
EXCITING RESULTS!
It’s been a massive month or so of track and field competition for a number of our Year 3-6 students. Just three weeks ago we had eight of our students head out to Casey Fields Athletics Centre to compete at the Southern Metropolitan Regional Athletics carnival. We are very proud of them all in making it through to this level of competition (1 before States!).
Congratulations to our 8 Regional athletics on these pretty awesome outcomes!
- Teddy S: 9/10B - 9th: 80m Hurdles
-Cooper V: 9/10B: 8th: Long Jump
-Liam L: 9/10B - 5th: Shotput
-Edie S: 12/13G - 1st: :100m & 4th: 80m Hurdles
-Archer V: 12/13B: 12th: Long Jump
-Jude H: 12/13B: 10th: Triple Jump
-Teddy S, Cooper V, Seb S, Nico L: 9/10B: 3rd: 4x100m relay
Our extra-impressive result was that of our very talented Edie S (6T), who was able to run her own PB (personal best) time in her 12/13 Girls 100m event of 13.45s, coming 1st place, and securing a place in the State Finals!
The SSV Primary School State Track and Field finals were held last Monday at the Lakeside Stadium in Albert Park. Edie ran a brilliant heat time to qualify 4th and make it through to the Finals. In what was an extremely close final, Edie placed an AMAZING fourth - with a time of 13.16s - yet another PB! Congratulations Edie.
NATIONALS FOR EDIE - TRACK & FIELD
Through qualifying for SSV Athletics trials a few months ago, Edie performed well and was then selected to represent Victoria and is now off to her second-for-the-year Nationals Championships next week. This time she’s heading to Canberra to compete in the SSV 12&U National Track & Field championships! Here Edie qualified to represent Victoria in the Long Jump and Medley relay, running the 100m leg. We wish Edie all the very best for this National Track and Field event and look forward to hearing all about her experience in the next few weeks.
FUN DAY OF GAMES @
YR. 3&4 CRICKET BLAST
With it being such a busy term, we’re still catching up on all of the sporting carnivals that our students participated in! To no surprise, our recent Year 3&4 Cricket Blast day also turned out to be a fun day of cricket games for all. This was the first experience of Cricket Blast for many of our students, so there were lots of nerves, excitement and learning witnessed!
We congratulate the four teams that represented our school at this Dendy District tournament; and especially thank the volunteering parents; Candice Hammer and Brendan Drew, along with attending staff; Laura Zeeng, Annalisa Gourley and Shane Daly for their amazing team support.
WHOLE SCHOOL SWIMMING CARNIVAL
Many thanks to all families that have accepted the Nforma permission for their child/ren to attend next Friday’s Swimming carnival at MSAC pool (Friday 28th November). As this is a whole school event with so many involved, it’s very much appreciated if everyone can please accept permission for their child to attend. Thank you…
PARENT HELPERS & ROLES:
A massive thank you to the dozens of parents that have offered their time & efforts with the Junior or Senior, or both carnivals! Sooo grateful…
*PLEASE ASSUME YOUR SUPPORT & TIME IS REQUIRED*. An email will go out to all helpers with their specific role and confirmed time of support by Monday 24th.
*NOTE: If you ticked ‘will update Tania soon’ on the Parent Helper link, and are now able to confirm your time commitment to helping, please email Tania by Monday. Many thanks!
*IMPORTANT REMINDERS*
HOUSE SWIMMING CAPS: Please ensure your child/ren have their House-coloured swimming cap set to go. Replacement house-coloured high quality silicon caps can be purchased for $8, from the office if required.
PROMPT BUS DEPARTURES: If we can please ask that families make sure their child is at school by 8.40am to ensure rolls can be taken & all buses can get off to MSAC as soon as they can - thank you!
Year 3-6 EVENT SELECTION: Next week all teachers will share with our Yr 3-6 students a summary of the events that students have selected to swim in.
*If your child hasn’t already, please get them to write them down on a piece of paper - to take to the carnival for a quick-reference guide. It helps when students know what they’re to marshall for. Many thanks!
All items to bring are found on the Nforma permission email sent out a few weeks ago.
We look forward to a brilliant day of competitive efforts, house-spirit and participation!
RETURN OF ALL SPORTS SINGLET
Can we please ask ALL Year 3-6 families to take a good look around their child’s bedroom and hand back all borrowed sports singlets from our Term 3 & 4 events to Mrs Thompson please.
MANY THANKS!
