St Finbar’s Achieves 3rd ResourceSmart Star – Transforming!
We’re excited to share that St Finbar’s Primary School has officially been certified with our third ResourceSmart Schools Star – Transforming, incorporating the Biodiversity Module!
The Biodiversity Module supports schools in protecting and improving their natural surroundings — including the land, local ecosystems, and habitats for plants and animals. Biodiversity reflects the incredible variety of life, from genetic and species diversity to ecosystem diversity, reminding us that everything in nature is connected.
Achieving 3 Stars means our school has engaged the whole community in sustainable action, embedding long-term changes in everyday habits while continuing to seek new ways to improve and transform our sustainability practices.
To reach this milestone, schools must complete at least two of the four ResourceSmart modules and demonstrate measurable progress — such as reducing resource use or improving habitat quality.
🌿Congratulations to Team Green and Miss Douglas for their dedication, creativity, and leadership in driving sustainability initiatives across our school. Your passion and hard work continue to make St Finbar’s a greener, more environmentally conscious community.
iSea iCare Beach Excursion🦀
Mimi: I really enjoyed this experience. We did so many fun activities and they were rock pool searching, indigenous talk, and looking for rubbish in sand buckets. My favourite activity was the indigenous talk because it was really interesting learning about the history of the indigenous culture. Overall this experience was amazing and a really fun way to finish off the year!
Bill: My experience was very fun because I got to explore and find out about the wild like when we went out to the beach. I thought we were just going to go to the rock pools but I found out about almost 10 different types of plants. There were a bunch of trees, bushes and plants that grew different editable foods like there was a tree that was a bit like a tomato tree but it was a berry tree.
Will: We went rock pooling and found crabs and fish with other schools. We also found birds that looked weird. I also enjoyed doing the aboriginal walk and trying all the foods and learning the aboriginal culture and seeing how they lived.
