Year 12 Resilience Workshop

With the Year 12 cohort commencing their last full term at the college this week before commencing their VCE exam revision in earnest next term, it was timely for these students to participate in a resilience workshop here at the college at the start of Term 3.  The workshop was led by one of the college’s alumni, Ben Pettingill, who now runs a motivational and public speaking business together with his business partner, Mike Rolls, that focused on helping our students evaluate where they are at in their journey through Year 12 and equipping them with the skills and mindsets needed to manage these demands.

Students were led through a series of activities that got them to reflect back on some of the key learnings they took from Part 1 of the workshop, which was held at the Year 12 Camp at the beginning of the school year, and how these insights could be supplemented with skills aimed at helping them create a sense of hope and momentum at the beginning of the new term. It was heartening to see the honesty evident in the way students responded to these activities and their willingness to embrace the suggested strategies for success.  Year 12 is a demanding year but the college hopes that participation in this workshop will play a small but significant part in helping our students finish the journey they started with a sense of purpose and optimism.
