Father's Day Breakfast Wrap Up

What a wonderful return to the Father’s and Special Person’s Day Breakfast last week. We welcomed more than 100 St John’s dads and special people into the hall for breakfast. 

Thank you to Sara (Y5), Cris (Y5) and Megan (Y2) for their help in organising the breakfast, and to all the helpers for making the day run so well (Lisa, Suzie ,Marisa, Ellese, Vilma, Carolyn, and Denise). We hope all the dads enjoyed their special morning breakfast.

Fundraising Update

We have had a very big year full of events so far, which have helped us raise more than $14,600 for the school. These funds are invaluable in helping us meet our objectives as the PIC.

The playgrounds were installed in 2021, at which time the PIC committed to contributing $10k annually to help repay the loan the school required to build them. On top of the playground loan, the PIC helps to buy equipment and resources for classrooms and/or the yard as well as host events to enhance student’s school experiences and foster community spirit. 

Some highlights of ways we’ve spent some of your fundraising dollars so far this year:  

• We purchased two art drying racks for the STEAM room, and are awaiting further wishlist items from the teachers. 
• We made pancakes for students for Shrove Tuesday.
• We cooled down students with icy poles following Cross Country Day 
• We hosted the Grandparents’ Morning Tea. 
• We subsidised the Father’s and Special Person’s Day Breakfast event in order to keep costs minimal for families. 
• We will be putting on a sausage sizzle for all students tomorrow for Footy Colours Day. 
• We’ve paid this year’s playground loan obligation.
• We also continue to work with Ms Alison on practical yard considerations before we can purchase the SRC’s wishlist request of soccer goals.

Your generous donations and support of the PIC’s fundraising efforts help us to ensure events like these can continue at the school, and that we can keep fulfilling SRC and teachers’ wishlist items.

Looking Ahead to Term 4

Despite everything we've already done this year, Term 4 is shaping up to be the biggest one yet for PIC events. We have two of our major fundraisers coming up: the Parent’s Night Out and the return of the Colour Fun Run, which we last ran three years ago. Stay tuned for more details as we launch in the first week of October. 

One of our major fundraisers, the Parents’ Night Out, is just 3 weeks away. We’ll start off with delicious canapes and relaxed vibes for catching up with other parents. For those keen, there will be dancefloor tunes as we head later into the night. It promises to be a great night; get your tickets now at https://st-johns-pic.square.site 

We are also looking for any donations of items, experiences or gift vouchers for a silent auction available on the night. Please get in touch on picstjohnsheidelberg@gmail.com if you are able to help in any way.

We hope to hold an in-person Second-hand Uniform Sale at the start of Term 4, but we need more uniform donations to do so. If you have any uniform items in good, re-sellable condition with no stains, rips, missing buttons or broken zips, we would love to receive the donations. You can drop them off in the office. Please note the online uniform sales will be unavailable as we prepare stock for the in-person sale. 

This Semester, the SRCs have voted for a Donut Day, which they have requested the PIC help organise. We are also working on some exciting ways to create an even more festive atmosphere around the Christmas Carols. Term 4 is shaping up to be a very busy but very fun final term!
