Supporting students to achieve academically...

Ready for Life

We are continuing our new Ready for Life subject this term, and it has been wonderful to receive such positive feedback from families, staff and students about the lessons so far!

Our Prep students will continue to play, collaborate and problem-solve in groups, responding to environmental challenges posed by one of our school characters. Through imaginative, hands-on play, students are developing their creativity, communication and teamwork skills. They will also be getting active through our new Perceptual Motor Program (PMP), which uses structured movement activities to develop coordination, balance, spatial awareness and other fundamental movement skills. Check out the Class Celebrations page for more information about this.

Our Year 1 and 2 students are moving out of the kitchen and into the great outdoors (or at least our school forecourt!). This term, they are learning a range of group games, with a focus on cooperation, communication and physical activity. We are using carefully designed games to help students manage challenges, work with others, make thoughtful decisions and respond positively when things don't go their way.

As part of learning how to play safely outdoors in Australia, students will also be taught how to check the UV rating and, if needed, apply sunscreen correctly and independently before heading outside for their games. Sunscreen will be provided at school, but families are welcome to send their own sunscreen with their child if they would prefer.

Across all three year levels, our focus remains on helping students develop practical skills, confidence and independence through engaging experiences that prepare them for everyday life.
