WACE English Requirements Change for UWA

UWA has revised its English language competency entry requirements. Students will now meet UWA’s English requirement if they achieve either:

  • a final school grade of C or higher, or
  • a scaled score above 50 in English ATAR, Literature ATAR, or English as an Additional Language/Dialect (EALD) ATAR.

This change reflects UWA’s support for school-based assessments as a strong indicator of student readiness for university.

Experience Based Entry

Use your life experience to enrol at UWA.

For students not doing ATAR or not meeting the ATAR pathway entry requirements, UWA’s Experience-based entry could count towards getting into uni.

If you’re bright, motivated, and passionate, you should have the opportunity to kick-start your career at UWA.

We will assess all your qualifications and life experiences using a point system, where points will be awarded for each item submitted, and the total number of points will determine your eligibility for your chosen course.

UWA has started promoting its accommodation for 2026

Staying at a residential college opposite UWA would be amazing. You are close to the campus, you have all your meals provided, you meet amazing people from all over the world who may be friends for life.

Residential colleges also provide academic support and some offer opportunities to meet leading academics who are visiting the UWA.

What’s not to love?

Probably the price. The most expensive colleges are $667 per week, and they range down from there with some interesting options opening in the city.

There are accommodation scholarships available which will make your costs much more affordable.
