Principal's Report
Simone Roy
Shantelle has written about the end of official schooling for the Year 12s in her report. However, I still wanted to acknowledge the wonderful student-led assembly on Monday where they farewelled their school community. I'd also like to thank the staff for their time and effort in making the last days of school memorable for the Class of 2026. Staff contributed delicious food, fun activities, cooking the bbq, setting up, pack up, their energy and sense of fun, and much more behind the scenes to celebrate the end of school with all our usual traditions.
For students sitting the end of year exams, I wish you good luck. Those not sitting exams should take some time to enjoy a well-deserved rest after a very busy, and at times, stressful year and their exam-sitting peers will be joining them soon enough.
The Alpine Shire Youth Awards were celebrated in Mount Beauty this year. As such, our school was contacted to see if we could help by providing some performances to showcase the talented youth that live in our area. Some of our students who study Indonesian, performed the traditional Rangkuk Alu dance. The school's Jazz Band also performed on the night. In addition to this, Andie and Luella stepped up to be wonderful MCs for the evening. We are proud that we could support the awards in this way, and would like to congratulate all nominees and recipients.
Thankyou to Mac, Jayda, Saanvi, Elske, Scarlett, Anouk, Xander, Poppy, Sophie, Peter, Sebastian, Freya, Jeremy, Eloise, Abramo, Ari, Luella and Andie for representing our school so well, by displaying our school values of Respect, Kindness and Confidence.
One of our selected 2027 School Captains is no longer able to fill the role in 2027. As such, we are re-opening the application process, and invite all Year 10 and 11 students to consider applying for the position.
At the same time, we are seeking applications for House Captains, with one captain per house being selected.
All students have received an email with further information to assist their application. Applications close 4.30pm Wednesday 4th November and no late applications will be considered.
Being Week 4 next week, the Term 4 Mid Term Progress Reports will be published to families in Compass on Friday afternoon. These reports focus on learning behaviours, with all students expected to be able to achieve a score of 3 for each habit. This will be the last school based report that the Year 12s receive, with a VCAA Statement of Results and relevant certificate provided in December. Please note, homework is not assessed this time but will be assessed in the Week 8 Progress Reports.
Friday 30th is World Teachers Day in Australia, with the theme "Shine a light on teachers!" with this day designated to highlight and celebrate the hard work and dedication of all teachers. Working in a school with students can be challenging and exhausting at times, but it is the changes we see in our students, and watching these people grow from children to young adults that rewards teachers and keeps them coming back!

Due to some software cyber security issues, the Department has put in place some security measures until the software issues are resolved. At this stage, all that has been affected is the school website, which will be out of action for a few days. All going smoothly, it should be back up and running normally by early next week. Sorry for any inconvenience.
