Student Leaders

A word from our 2027 School Captains
Andy Ye: Make diverse voices matter
“A possibility is a chance at success.” 🌻
Hi Preston High! I’m Andy Ye and I'm incredibly grateful to introduce myself as your 2027 School Captain: Inclusion. After years of student leadership as a School Council Representative, Diversity Leader, Visual Arts Leader and Ada Leader, this role feels like both a new beginning and a continuation of everything I’ve learnt from our community.
Throughout my journey, I’ve come to believe that inclusion is more than simply making space for people. It is about making people feel that their voice matters once they are there. Through Anti-Racism Week, student voice initiatives, Economics Club, school design projects and Melbourne Museum’s Student Climate Commons, I’ve been fortunate to work alongside students and teachers to turn ideas into meaningful experiences.
In 2027, I hope to create more opportunities for students to share their passions, interests, ideas and concerns, while strengthening student voice and participation across our community. I also hope to work closely with our student leaders to create opportunities that are shaped by students, not simply created for them.
I’m incredibly thankful to everyone who has supported, encouraged and trusted me. If you ever have an idea, concern, suggestion or simply want someone to talk to, please feel welcome to find me on G-Level 4, reach out by email, or join me at Badminton Club.
I’m excited for what we can create together. As if a possibility is a chance at success, then perhaps our greatest possibilities are the ones we create for one another. 🌻
Anastasia Kocovska : Be your best self
Hi everyone, my name is Anastasia Kocovska, and I am honoured to be Preston High School’s new community School Captain for 2027. I’ve always valued being part of a close community and how it brings out the best in everyone.
Outside of school, I enjoy playing soccer, which has been a huge part of my life. Being part of a team has given me the opportunity to work with others, build strong friendships and create connections with people who share the same drive and passion. It has shown me how meaningful it can be to be surrounded by people who encourage each other and push you to become the best version of yourself
I also had the opportunity to complete work experience at the Austin Hospital, where I spent time in the pathology department and saw how different people contribute to a larger community. This experience showed me the importance of teamwork and communication and made me appreciate that a strong community is built when people work together and support one another.
As Community School Captain, I hope to apply these experiences into my role and help to further strengthen our school community by creating more opportunities for students to get involved, share their ideas and connect with one another. I'm excited to build on the strong sense of community we have at Preston and contribute to making it even stronger throughout 2027.
Felix Griffin: Find moments to celebrate
Hey everyone! I’m Felix and I’m so excited to be your 2026 Excellence School Captain! I love to hike, cook, and catch up with friends. I mostly just love keeping busy, so throughout my time at Preston I’ve been a part of so many different facets of the school; from inter-school sports, to debating, to the musical. And through it all I’ve had the privilege to be surrounded by absolutely talented and incredible mentors, peers, and teachers.
These people proved to me, without a doubt, that those who excel the most aren’t always those who possess a natural aptitude but are the ones who work their butts off, show up day in and day out, and help others.
As Excellence School Captain, I really want to continue to accentuate this aspect of Preston High School culture, where we do celebrate the end result but, also the amazing work that goes into achievements and the people we lift up with us along the way.
Across my time at school I’ve been the person who’s incredibly academically motivated, but I’ve also been the person who’s struggled to get to school. I want to make sure we celebrate everyone and the hard things people do; whatever that looks like.
Over the coming year I’d love to bring about new ways Preston High School can celebrate and support students and our local community through fundraising or outreach activities.
