Year 4 - Kensuke's Kingdom
The Year 4’s have really been enjoying the book Kensuke’s Kingdom so far this term. The book follows Michael, a young boy who sets sail around the world with his parents and their dog. During a storm, Michael falls overboard and washes up on a remote island in the Pacific.
At first, he believes he is alone — until he discovers an elderly Japanese man named Kensuke living there. Kensuke has been stranded on the island since World War II.
Here are some responses the students have to the text. They are very excited to hear about what happens next!
What do you like about the story so far?
I like that Michael is doing survival things to help him stay alive – Malala Y
