Girton's World's Greatest Shave 2026

Junior School's World’s Greatest Shave Team 2026

With only two weeks to go, 20 Year 6 students have been working hard to raise funds for this very worthy cause. On Friday 13th March all of our Junior School students will get involved in the Crazy Hair Day to support our shavers. We also thank the team at SM Hair Studio in Bendigo, who are once again donating their time and talent to support this event by taking part in the shaving.

So far, the students have raised $21,045! Thank you so much to our families and staff who have contributed so far. This is an amazing achievement and we're positive World's Greatest Shave team will reach their goal of $30,000.

Anyone wishing to support the team can go to the following link:

I have been growing my hair since I was very young and have decided that this is a cause where I can help make a difference by supporting people affected by blood cancer. I will then donate my hair to Wigs4Kids.

I want to be a part of the World’s Greatest Shave because the Leukaemia Foundation helps people who are going through some awful things.

I’m really looking forward to making a difference.

After some deep thought, I finally realised that it was because I wanted to help. It was because I wanted to help those who have been affected by cancer and all going to be in the future. I want to be the kid that helps figure out a way to stop blood cancer instead of the kid who gets first place at the swimming pool. I want to be the kid who helps the preppy out in the playground on their first day more than the kid who wins awards at Speech Night. So, this is just one of the things I’m doing to become that ‘‘person’’, (also I really, really need a haircut, you try doing a whole year and a half with no haircuts, it's hard!!)

I would like to do the World's Greatest Shave because my family has directly experienced loss from cancer and so I would like to raise money in their memory. My Grandma Bronwen died at the age of 52 from cancer, and neither Hector nor I ever got the chance to meet her. Hopefully, one day, through research partially supported by Shave for a Cure, we can cure cancer.

I would like to do this because I want to help people with cancer, and I have been growing my hair for a while now, especially for this occasion.

I would like to shave my head to raise money for blood cancer. I personally have not been affected by it, but many have, so by raising money, it will help lower the number of people who have to struggle through that.

I would like to participate in the World’s Greatest Shave because I care about stopping cancer. My grandmother had cancer but thankfully she is now in complete remission. I like to do fundraising because I care for my community. The reason that I care for my community and fellow people is because other people deserve to be healthy, strong and happy.

I would like to do WGS because I think I can help people in need and people who are affected with this cause. And this hair will grow back so why shouldn't I buzz it off.

I would like to participate in the Greatest Shave. Here are my reasons why:  My younger brother once had leukemia as a baby; he was in the hospital for ages, and I don't want other children to go through that.

I want to do the World’s Greatest Shave because I want to be a part of a team making a difference to the lives of others. I’m proud of our school and the students who are making a difference.

I would love to participate in the world's greatest shave this year. Reason 1 it has been my dream since pretty much forever to shave my head, especially when I saw Hamish do it in 2021, it made it even more awesome. Reason 2 both of my grandmothers suffered from cancer around 10 years ago, and I don't want more people suffering from cancer. Reason 3 I love raising money and helping people out as much as possible, including shaving my head for patients suffering from cancer.

I would like to do the World's Greatest Shave because I feel really bad for all the people who have cancer, that's why I want to do the World's Greatest Shave and raise some money for cancer research.

I would like to do the World’s Greatest Shave because, since my first Crazy Hair Day, I have wanted to be involved. Now it is finally my turn to do it! My grandma has a brain tumour, and it has been taking its toll on everyone. I want to raise funds to support the Leukaemia foundation and help everyone have an equal chance for a happy and healthy life.

I would like to take part because my grandmother passed away due to cancer, and this loss had a significant impact on my mother. By participating, I want to show my support for her and help raise awareness and funds for cancer research. The cause is important to me, and I believe this is a meaningful way to contribute to something positive while honouring my family’s experience. I understand that taking part involves responsibility and commitment, and I am willing to meet all the school's expectations. I would be grateful for the opportunity to participate and represent the school respectfully and positively.

I want to do the World's Greatest Shave because I want to help people who have cancer and people who have been affected by it. Cancer is not easy to treat. If we help people who have been affected by cancer, they could get out of the hospital quicker because they get the treatment faster from the donations. If we do that most people who have cancer will be walking around like nothing just happened. That's why I really want to do the World's Greatest Shave so people with cancer will have a chance to see the world instead of staying in a hospital bed.

The reason why I want to do the World's Greatest Shave is that one of my grandmothers died of cancer and the other is a cancer survivor. Therefore I don't want anyone to go through what my family went through because of cancer.

I’ve decided to shave my head to help raise money for kids who really need support. My hair will grow back, but their need for help can’t wait. If this can make even a small difference, it’s absolutely worth it.

I am shaving my hair for the World’s Greatest Shave to help people who are fighting cancer. Hair might seem like a small thing, but for someone who has lost theirs during treatment, it can mean a lot. If my hair can help even one person, then it is 100% worth it.
