Principal’s Newsletter Report: Week 1, Term 3, 2026

Welcome Back! 

Welcome back to Term 3! I hope all of our families enjoyed a restful break and are feeling refreshed for another exciting term at Langwarrin Park Primary School. 

The term has already started with plenty of energy and enthusiasm. This week we are recognising NAIDOC Week, celebrating the incredible talents of our students through the Talent Show heats, and looking forward to welcoming our wonderful grandparents and special visitors for Grandparents' Day. 

Our School Captains and Student Leaders have also organised our Rainbows and Lollipops Casual Dress Day. Funds raised will go towards their Creative Bin Project, an initiative designed to encourage students to care for our environment while reducing litter around the school. It is wonderful to see our student leaders turning great ideas into meaningful projects that make a difference to our school community. 

Looking Ahead to 2027 

Planning for next year has started. We are currently receiving Foundation 2027 enrolments, which play an important role in our workforce planning and class structures for next year. 

If you have a child starting Foundation in 2027, we encourage you to submit your enrolment by 31 July. If you require any assistance, our office team is always happy to help. 

Facilities and Grounds Update 

There is certainly plenty happening across our school grounds! 

Our roof restoration project is now approximately halfway through. The recent heavy rain certainly reminded us why these works are so important. While the downpours also created a number of leaks throughout the school, we have been incredibly grateful for the hardworking tradespeople who have responded so quickly to repairs. 

Unfortunately, some classrooms have been impacted and are not yet able to return to their regular learning spaces. We appreciate the flexibility shown by our students, staff and families and will continue to keep everyone updated as the project progresses. 

Looking ahead, our basketball court upgrade is expected to commence in September (after the Colour Event) 

Our Facilities Team is also working towards completing the upgraded Bike Shed by the end of the term, while our Sustainability Leaders continue collecting recyclables and supporting environmentally friendly initiatives across the school. 

In more exciting news, our School Council Fundraising Committee has begun planning this year's Colour Event, which will be held towards the end of the term. More details will be shared soon. And with Book Week just around the corner, now is the perfect time to start thinking about costumes! 

Supporting Victorian Education 

A number of our staff, as members of the Australian Education Union, are participating in ongoing industrial action. These actions support efforts to achieve fair and equitable salaries and improved funding for Victorian schools, bringing Victoria into line with other states. 

We appreciate your understanding as this process continues and will communicate with families should any future industrial action affect school operations. Currently the union has directed staff to let me know what they will be doing by 8am on Tuesday. I will build a plan as quickly as I can to keep you informed. 

Events on Compass-Staying Organised 

We have continued to strengthen our planning processes this year to ensure excursions, incursions and camps are well organised and communicated well in advance. 

Information is shared through Compass, classroom displays and within the Finance section of this newsletter. We encourage families to regularly check Compass so you don't miss important dates, consent requirements or payment deadlines. Once events have closed, it is often difficult to reopen bookings, so your support in meeting timelines is greatly appreciated. 

A Few Friendly Reminders 

Parking: 

To help keep everyone safe and traffic flowing smoothly, parent parking is not available on the school grounds during school hours. We encourage families to make use of nearby street parking where available and thank you for helping us maintain a safe environment for all students. 

School Bell Times:

Our first bell rings at 8:55 am, giving students time to prepare for the day. Classroom music follows, with rolls marked promptly at 9:00 am. For Child Safe reasons, our school gates are locked at 9:05 am. 

Arriving on time helps students settle into their learning, connect with their classmates and begin the day successfully. 

Thank you, as always, for your ongoing support of our school community. Thank you for the responses about the values we want to see at LPPS. These have been used to create our vision statement and values for the next 4 year  Strategic Plan. 

There is so much to look forward to this term, and I can't wait to share these experiences with our students and families. Together, we will continue to nurture curious, confident and caring learners while creating opportunities for every child to thrive.
