Maths Olympiad Presentation

The Maths Olympiad competition is over for another year. We thank the the families of the 2023 Maths Olympiad team who were able to join us at assembly on Monday.

We are very proud of the students who competed, for their participation in, and enthusiasm for the program this year; for attending every week to learn new and challenging problem solving strategies, and for competing with persistence.

 Certificates of participation went to: Nethvin H, Matthew M, Ethan A, Jason C, Kevin W, Angela N, Mason L, Chris S, Anthony N, Ethan H, Adam T, Ashton F, Tyson V, Justin H and Aiden K.

AWARDS PRESENTED

The first is an encouragement award, which is given to a student for outstanding achievement and effort in Maths through the Olympiad program this year. This student tried their hardest every week. He showed a positive attitude to learning new strategies for problem solving, persisted with challenging problems and are considered a role model to their peers. The recipient of this year's encouragement award is... Matthew .

Three of our students who scored in the top 25% of students in the competition - not just at our school, but at all schools that competed across Australia and New Zealand. These children are awarded a patch for this achievement. Like Matthew, these three students tried their hardest every week, and persisted when faced with difficult problems. They are... Ethan, Angela  & Mason.

Two of our students received a trophy for being the equal highest individual scorers in our school. They received a pin for scoring in the top 10% of students - again in schools across Australia and New Zealand. They are... Tyson  & Jason !

Thank you and congratulations again to all of our students who participated in Maths Olympiad this year.

We look forward to the next bunch of Mathematicians taking part next year... hopefully we see some current Year 4s and even more girls in the group next year!
