Vinnies Drive

Our major fundraiser for Term 2 will begin in Week 5, Monday 18 May and run for 2 weeks. 

 

Students are asked to contribute food and grocery items to the Kedron Vinnies Pantry. These items will be distributed to families in need in our local area. Donations can be placed in the baskets in the Carceri. Each basket is clearly labelled by House. 

 

Items required include: cereal, long life milk, tinned fruit, pasta, pasta sauce, rice, instant noodlescoffee, black teabags, tinned vegetableslaundry powder, dishwashing liquid, soapbaked beans and tinned spaghetti, chunky soup, tinned fishtoothpaste, toothbrushes, roll on deodorant.

ANZAC Day Services

Mount Alvernia College invites all students and their families to participate in the 2026 ANZAC Day services hosted by the Kedron‑Wavell RSL Sub‑Branch this Saturday 25 April. As the 2026 support school, our presence across the events is both significant and valued.

 

Families are welcome to attend any or all services throughout the morning, with particular encouragement to join us for the ANZAC March.

 

Below you will find details of the services scheduled for the day.

 

Dawn Service – Lutwyche Cemetery

Location: War Graves Section, Lutwyche Cemetery, Kitchener Road, Kedron

 

  • 5:15am: Students are requested to assemble in front of the cenotaph.
  • 5:30am: Service commences
  • 6:30am: Conclusion of the Dawn Service

 

ANZAC March – Chermside Historical Precinct 

Location: Chermside Historical Precinct, 61 Kittyhawk Drive, Chermside

 

  • 7:30am – 7:45am: Students are requested to gather and assemble on the oval in preparation to march together as a College community
  • 8:00am: March commences

 

Main Service – Kedron-Wavell Services Club

 

  • 8:30am: Service commences.
  • At the conclusion of the Main Service, students will depart with their families. Families are encouraged to meet their students promptly at the end of the service.

 

Uniform Requirements

Students must wear full College formal uniform, including hat and blazer. Students are encouraged to bring a filled water bottle.

 

Transport

The College will not be providing transport for students on this day (except for members of the choir and student leaders). If your child is attending the Dawn Service and the March/Main Service, transport must be arranged by your family from the Lutwyche Cemetery, Kitchener Road, Kedron to the Kedron-Wavell Services Club, Kittyhawk Drive, Chermside.

Sony Foundation Camp 

Mount Alvernia College and Marist College Ashgrove is excited to host its 20th Children’s Holiday Camp. This incredible program provides children with special needs the opportunity to enjoy a fun-filled three-day camp at no cost to their families, while also giving senior students from Mount Alvernia College and Marist College Ashgrove the chance to take on a rewarding leadership and service role. This year’s camp will be held from Saturday 19 – Monday 21 September.
