Principal's Report

Jonathan Rowe

Dear parents and carers

As the term draws to a close, I extend my sincere thanks to our students, staff and families for the energy, commitment and generosity that have shaped the beginning of our year.  It has been a term marked not only by wonderful achievements, but by the many quiet ways our community has supported one another and contributed to the life of the College.

Fiona Mulhall, Deputy Principal, concludes her time here at Monivae.  Fiona has been a wonderful servant to our community for the past 6 years.  She has contributed significantly to educating students in MSC schools, Chevalier College and Monivae, for more than 20 years.  We will miss her and wish her well in her new role as Deputy Principal at St Mary’s St Kilda.

Sofia Vearing has kindly agreed to take on the role of Deputy Principal through to the end of the year.  Dale Minney steps into the Senior School Coordinator role, and Nyah Bester will be the Assistant Senior School Coordinator.

Several changes have been made, due to Fiona Mulhall’s departure, to teachers and classes for Term 2.  The College has attempted to minimise the impact on students.  If you have any concerns, please contact Heather Balkin, Director of Learning and Teaching, hbalkin@monivae.vic.edu.au

As we reflect on this Lenten season, we are also mindful of the realities of our wider world. In a time where conflict and suffering continue to affect many, including in the Middle East, the call to act with gentleness, understanding and care becomes even more significant.  While these challenges can feel distant, they remind us that the values we nurture in our young people - empathy, respect and a commitment to peace - matter deeply, both within our own community and beyond it.

God of hope,

in the quiet promise of Easter,

renew in us a spirit of gentleness and strength.

Help us to recognise the goodness in others,

to act with compassion in all we do,and to be people who bring light,

even in small and unseen ways.

I hope the Easter season brings peace, renewal and hope to you and your families.

Kind regards,

Mr Jonathan Rowe
