The Friends' School is delighted to host our bi-annual School Fair this Saturday 21 March, from 11am to 2pm. The day will encompass a variety of foods, games, activities and stalls. This year proceeds from the Fair will be proudly donated to our charity partner, the Migrant Resource Centre Tasmania.

The Migrant Resource Centre Tasmania is running a ‘ready for school’ donation drive that provides newly arrived children from refugee backgrounds with the supplies they need to start school. With support, they provide a backpack, lunch box, drink bottle, some art supplies like pens, crayons and notebooks, a small craft or sports related item, as well as a voucher to buy school shoes and a diary for the parents to keep track of school and other appointments.

They would welcome donations of new or as-new items from this list to their MRC Tas stall at the Fair.

Refer to the separate email with additional details about the Fair.

Please advise our Events & Marketing Coordinator, Emma Gilligan - egilligan@friends.tas.edu.au - or Director of Community Engagement, Bill Avery - bavery@friends.tas.edu.au - if you have any queries.

Middle School Donation Drive

The Middle School Student Voice Council are holding their first Donation Drive for the Year, supporting the Books and Boots campaign.

Books and Boots facilitates the donation of pre-loved and new books and football boots to children in remote areas of primary school-age Australia. As such, the Student Voice Council is asking for donations of children's picture books and football boots to be re-distributed to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities nationally.

We are looking for donations of new or gently used picture books for children between the ages of 0-8. Please see the donation guide about what we can and can’t accept.

We are also seeking clean football boots for all ages. Are you a member of a football club? Are you able to organise a larger collection of used boots to donate?

House donation tubs  in the Middle School library from Weeks 6-9 to collect Books and Boots, or simply drop off to the Middle School Office (with your House written on the donation!) The House with the most donations wins points towards the House Cup!

For more information about the campaign, or any questions you might have, contact Essie Hoggart, House Leader - Middle School  (ehoggart@friends.tas.edu.au).

Quaker Meetings for Worship

All members of The Friends’ School community are welcome to attend our Meeting for Worship any Sunday from 10.00am, closing about 11.00am, with morning tea available afterwards.

Children are always welcome and there is a Children’s Meeting held concurrently with the Meeting for Worship. They learn about Quaker values through a range of interesting and fun activities. Around 10.50am the children join the Meeting for Worship, settling into the gathered Meeting for the last 10 minutes, usually sitting with their parents.

If you have any enquiries about the Children’s meeting please email the Clerk, Margaret Bywater, rmtasclerk@quakersaustralia.info
