VISUAL ARTS

Foundation — Autumn Leaves & Warm Colours

Foundation students have been exploring the change of seasons, discovering why leaves transform into beautiful shades of red, orange, and gold as autumn arrives. Students have been bringing this science to life through art, creating works inspired by autumn leaves using warm colour palettes.

Years 1 & 2 — Pop Art Comic Book Collage

Years 1 and 2 have been diving into the bold world of pop art, exploring the iconic works of Roy Lichtenstein and experimenting with onomatopoeia — the fun words that bring sound to life on the page (think POW! and BOOM!). Students are combining these ideas into mixed media comic book-inspired collages.

Years 3 & 4 — Ugly Doll Sewing Project

Years 3 and 4 have begun an exciting textile project — designing and cutting out their very own "ugly dolls" from felt. Over the coming weeks students will be learning how to hand sew their creations together. Want to practise at home? Ask a grown-up to help you look up the back stitch, whip stitch, and blanket stitch — these are the three techniques we'll be using in class!

Years 5 & 6 — Warhol-Inspired Pop Art Portraits

Years 5 and 6 are about to begin a portrait project inspired by Andy Warhol's iconic pop art style. Students will use acetate to carefully trace their own portrait before working with flat, bold colours to create striking, graphic compositions — a real exploration of identity through art.
