From the Principal

Dear St Anthony's Families,
If you paused for just five minutes in our classrooms this week, you would see creativity, resilience and curiosity in action.
Dear Lord,
May we take a moment in the busyness of this term to be grateful for the opportunities before us, the people beside us and the lessons we continue to learn each day.
Give our students courage to keep trying, curiosity to keep learning and kindness in the way they treat others.
Strengthen our staff with patience, wisdom and encouragement as they guide and support our young people.
Bless our families and wider community, whose care and partnership help our school flourish.
As we move through the middle of the term, may we remain hopeful, resilient and united in all that we do.
Amen.
First Reconciliation
Congratulations to some of our Year Three students who made their first reconciliation last Tuesday. It was a wonderful evening. More in our Education in FaithPage.
Year Five and Six Camp 'The Summit'
What a spectacular three days it was last week. Our Year 5/6 students were pushed and asked to step outside their comfort zone, and boy, did they respond! The rain faded away into nothingness as they bravely took on all the activities at camp. We are so proud of them all.
Please see some of their reflections in the 'Year 5/6 News' page.
Anna - State Champion
Well done to Anna for winning the 2026
Victorian State Championships
in her age group for Calisthenics!
We are so impressed and proud of your efforts. Great dedication and work goes into this, well done!
Melbourne Zoo excursion next week
We look forward to our whole school Melbourne Zoo excursion on Tuesday, next week. It is such a great experience being able to go with the whole school on an excursion that will inform their integrated units. The Prep students this week, figured out that an elephant can get up to 4 meters high! We are looking forward to seeing if that is actually true at the zoo!
Step into Prep
On Wednesday morning we welcome a group of 4 year old Kinder children to our first Step into Prep morning. The prep teachers have been working really hard to make sure they have a wonderful program for them. They will also be working with the current Prep students. If you know anyone who might be interested in the program, please get them to email me.
Open Day
On Monday, the 1st of June we our last Term Two Open Day and we already have some people who registered. Again, if you know anyone who might be interested in our school (of course, because you told them how wonderful it is!!!😊), let them know that they can register on our website. 2027 or beyond.
National Walk Safely to School Day 2026: Friday 22nd of May
On Friday next week is our annual National Walk Safely to School Day. We encourage all students to walk to school on this day. We understand that some people live further away and therefor we say: Part way is OK!
So parents, park a little further away than normal and walk to school with your children. Obviously, take care on the roads around our school and, for our younger students, make sure you hold their hand near busy roads.
Focus on Learning: Structure in our literacy program
A strong foundation in literacy is essential for every student’s success at school and beyond. Our continued focus on highly structured literacy ensures that students develop the skills, confidence and understanding needed to become capable readers, writers and speakers. Through evidence-based programs such as UFLI and Spelling Mastery, students are provided with explicit, systematic instruction that supports phonics, spelling, fluency and vocabulary development. These programs help create consistent learning pathways for all students and play an important role in strengthening literacy outcomes across our wonderful school. More about UFLI and Spelling Mastery in this weeks: Learning and Teaching (by Mr. O.). This page is wonderfully written and gives you some more in depth knowledge about the programs and learning we do here at St Anthony's, please, have a read.
I look forward to seeing you all before and after school. It is always so nice to catch up.
Ru Lameijn
Principal
