Principal's Report
Good afternoon all,
It has been wonderful to welcome everyone back for the beginning of Term 3. I hope all our families enjoyed a restful break and are feeling refreshed for another busy and rewarding term at Sacred Heart.
Our staff commenced the term with a Professional Learning Day focused on continuing to strengthen our practice and ensure the very best outcomes for all students. Throughout the day, staff participated in four key learning sessions. These included supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and a Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA) profile, Behaviour Curriculum and Classroom Mastery updates, embedding the Source of Life curriculum more deeply into the life of our school, and developing our digital skills. These opportunities for professional learning enable us to continually refine our teaching and support every child to flourish academically, socially and spiritually.
I would like to remind families that student supervision does not begin until 8.30 am, when the school gates and front doors are opened. Students who arrive before this time are not supervised and are left at the family's own risk. To ensure the safety and wellbeing of all children, we strongly encourage families to drop students off from 8.30 am onwards.
Last Friday's Grandparents Day was an outstanding success. It was heart warming to see such a wonderful turnout, with grandparents filling our Church for the mass and then our classrooms and enjoying the opportunity to spend time with their grandchildren. The joy on our students' faces was evident throughout the morning, and we sincerely thank all our grandparents and special visitors for the love, encouragement and support they continue to provide to our students.
We are currently conducting Foundation enrolment interviews for students who will commence their schooling journey with us in 2027. We are delighted that approximately 40 Foundation students are expected to join our school next year. We look forward to welcoming these families more formally during our transition program, which will begin in November.
Please mark your calendars for two exciting community events. This year we are introducing our own Sacred Heart Christmas Carols celebration during December. While our students will continue to proudly participate in the Tatura Community Christmas Carols on Wednesday 3 December, we wanted the opportunity to celebrate Christmas together as
our own school community. This special evening will include all current students, along with our new Foundation students for next year.
Another date to remember is our annual Colour Run, which will be held during the school day on Friday 6 November. This promises to be another fun-filled event for our students and an exciting way to celebrate together as we move towards the end of the school year.
A reminder to families that Wednesday 5 August is a Student Free Day. On this day, staff from across Sandhurst Catholic schools will gather for our annual Spirituality Day, providing an opportunity for prayer, reflection and renewal as we continue our shared mission of Catholic education.
As we reflect on the wonderful celebration of Grandparents Day, I would like to conclude with a beautiful prayer honouring the important role grandparents play in our families, our Church and our community.
A Blessing for Grandparents
Lord Jesus, you were born of the Virgin Mary, the daughter of Saints Joachim and Anne. Look with love on grandparents and the elderly throughout the world.
Protect them. They are a source of enrichment for families, for the Church and for all of society.
Support them. As they grow older, may they continue to be strong pillars of faith, hope and love within their families.
Guide them. As we celebrate the 2026 World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly, may your promise, "I will never forget you," bring them comfort whenever they experience loneliness or isolation.
Make them teachers of wisdom and faith, and through their example draw younger generations ever closer to you.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
