OUR FAITH

PRAYER

Prayer of St. Dominic

May God the Father who made us bless us. May God the Son send his healing among us.

May God the Holy Spirit move within us and give us eyes to see with, ears to hear with, and hands that your work might be done.

May we walk and preach the word of God to all.

May the angel of peace watch over us and lead us at last by God’s grace to the Kingdom. Amen

We pray ...

for.....our priests, all candidates preparing for the Sacrament of Confirmation.

GRANDPARENTS DAY

What a truly wonderful day we had last Friday! We were deeply blessed to see so many members of our school community gather together to honour the significant people who play such a pivotal role in our lives—our incredible grandparents and grandfriends.

The morning kicked off with our excited students welcoming their special guests into our learning spaces for classroom visits, where they proudly shared their work and everyday school life.

Following our classroom time, we gathered together for a beautiful, heartfelt Liturgy. A sincere and warm thank you to Deacon Allen for celebrating the Liturgy with us. We were also treated to two wonderful performances during the service: a big thank you to Mrs McGuirk and the Year 2 choir for their beautiful rendition of "God Has Made Us a Family", and to our adorable Kindergarten students for their delightful performance of the poem "Over the Hill!"

To cap off the morning, everyone enjoyed a lovely picnic morning tea together in the sunshine. The laughter, shared stories, and smiles created a noticeable buzz and a deep sense of belonging throughout the entire school grounds.

Grandparents Day is by far one of the biggest events on our school calendar, and it is one we all treasure immensely.

FAMILY MASS

Our next Family Mass will be this Sunday, 2nd August. This will be hosted by Year 6 and Kindergarten. It would be wonderful to see as many St Nicholas families at our Family Mass.

St Dominic- Feast Day - Monday 3rd August

St Nicholas School has a rich history and association with the Dominican order, and it is important that we acknowledge the work that has been carried out over the years by the order. Fittingly, one of our school house teams is named after St Dominic. The Mottos of the Dominican Order are: VERITAS- TRUTH, TO PRAISE, TO BLESS, TO PREACH.

Dominic was born in 1170 in Caleruega, a village in the north of Spain. He began his University Studies at the age of 14, followed by studies for the Priesthood, being ordained a Priest at the age of 25. Dominic was a person of prayer, and lived a simple life without luxuries, and in the year 1216 he founded the Order of Preachers, - THE DOMINICANS. (Sisters, Brothers, Fathers). He insisted the Fathers study, before going out among the people to preach, and gradually they moved to other countries around the world.

MINI VINNIES WINTER APPEAL

As the frosty winter weather settles in, it’s easy to look forward to cozy nights indoors with a hot drink and a thick blanket. Sadly, for many people in our local community, winter brings extra hardship instead of comfort.

This year, our Mini Vinnies team is putting their faith into action to bring warmth and hope to those who need it most. We are officially launching our Winter Appeal, and we need your help to make a difference!

We are asking for any old winter coats or jackets that no longer fit, canned soups, canned spaghetti, and canned fruit. Please send your donations to Mrs Scott at the school.
