Foundation News ~ Preps ~ Caring for God's World

Our Foundation students have been exploring what it means to be caretakers of God's creation. Through their learning, they have discovered that caring for our world isn't just about looking after plants and animals, it is about showing gratitude for the gifts God has given us and taking responsibility for the beautiful world we share.

One of the most visible signs of this learning can be found just outside the Foundation learning spaces. If you have walked past recently, you may have noticed the beautiful garden our youngest learners have lovingly planted and cared for. From preparing the garden beds to watering, weeding and watching their plants grow, the children have experienced the joy and responsibility of nurturing new life.

This week, their learning came full circle when the students carefully picked some of the flowers they had grown and arranged them into beautiful bunches for our Community Lounge. These colourful displays created a warm and welcoming space for staff as they gathered to share a hot soup lunch together.

It was a simple yet powerful reminder that caring for God's creation is also about caring for one another. The Foundation students' thoughtful gesture brought beauty, joy and a sense of community to our school, demonstrating that even the smallest acts of kindness can make a meaningful difference.

We are so proud of our youngest learners for living out our school values and showing us how we can all care for God's world, with grateful hearts, gentle hands and generous spirits.

Our Foundation Students' first Athletics Day!

Our Foundation students recently enjoyed their very first Athletics Day, and what a wonderful day it was! From running races and jumping to throwing and cheering on their classmates, our youngest learners embraced every activity with enthusiasm, courage and big smiles.

It was wonderful to see the children trying new challenges, encouraging one another and celebrating each other's efforts. We are incredibly proud of the resilience, teamwork and sportsmanship they demonstrated throughout the day.

A huge thank you to our staff, families and Year 6 buddies who helped make this special milestone such a positive and memorable experience. What a fantastic first Athletics Day for our Foundation students!

St Mel's Athletics Day

We're thrilled to report that our annual St. Mel's School Athletics Day was an outstanding success! With enthusiasm, sportsmanship, and plenty of sunshine, our students showcased their talents, persistence and dedication, making it such a memorable day for everyone involved. Students cheered on their classmates, offered encouragement and support, regardless of the outcome. The spirit of teamwork and sportsmanship was evident in every race and field event. Our students did their best, helped others succeed and showed great respect at our sports day today and we are so proud.

What an amazing day! It was wonderful to see so many families at our day to support our children.

Thank you to everyone who helped to make this day a great success. A special thanks to Lily Beer, who coordinated our day with the support of Chris Munari. A big thank you to Trent and the students from St. Anne's who supported us on the day. What amazing role models for our students.

Congratulations to Mel House for being awarded the House Spirit Award.

Congratulations to Scalabrini ~ Yellow, who were the overall winners of our Athletics Day this year!

St Mel's Breaky Club:

Come for breaky… second breakfast… or even third breakfast — all are welcome!

Our new Foundation students enjoyed trying out Breakfast Club for the first time and it’s safe to say they absolutely loved it! There were smiles, full tummies and a wonderful sense of community to start the day.

Breakfast Club is a beautiful way to gather, connect and ensure everyone begins the morning feeling nourished and ready to learn.

We look forward to welcoming more students as we continue to grow this special initiative.
