Friendship and Belonging
Friendships are an important part of school life. When children feel that they belong and have positive connections with others, they are more confident, engaged in their learning and better able to manage challenges. Friendships also provide wonderful opportunities for children to develop important skills such as kindness, empathy, communication, cooperation and respect.
Families play an important role in helping children build and maintain positive friendships. Encouraging children to be inclusive, supporting them to solve disagreements respectfully and providing opportunities to connect with others can make a real difference.
As a school community, we all have a role to play in helping every child feel welcomed, valued and included. Together, we can create a caring and connected community where every child has the opportunity to build friendships, develop confidence and thrive.
