In Term 3, the Year 1 Wellbeing curriculum will integrate topics within the Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships (RRRR) Program.

Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships (RRRR)

This term we will begin with a recap on Topic 6 - Help Seeking. We will then move to our main focus for wellbeing lessons from Topic 8: Positive Gender Relationships.

Activities within this topic area will assist students to:

  • develop an understanding of gender-based violence as involving unfair and hurtful behaviours based on ideas about what it means to be a boy, girl or gender-diverse person.
  • identify how gender-based violence can include things that people say (verbal), things that they do to other people’ bodies or possessions (physical), or things that affect how safe or welcome other people feel, e.g. ignoring them, leaving them out or laughing at them (psychological).
  • examine the effects of physical, verbal and psychological forms of gender-based violence.
  • identify and practise respectful and gender-friendly behaviours.
  • develop and practise assertive and help-seeking strategies to protect themselves when they feel unsafe.

If you are seeking further information regarding this unit please contact our Mental Health in Primary School (MHiPS) Leader, Jessica Norder, or Assistant Principal, Amanda Wilson.

Positive Classroom Management Strategies (PCMS)

A significant effort has been made within the Year 1 cohort to promote expected behaviours in classrooms and fair play in the schoolyard.  These expectations have been discussed and will continue to be celebrated in our weekly Year 1 Wellbeing assemblies.

Cyber Safety

We will continue our termly work with "Inform and Empower's" student online incursions to introduce age appropriate content on cyber safety and digital wellbeing. This will support students to act when something online 'doesn't feel right'.
