Mathematics

In Mathematics, we will focus on consolidating skills and providing students with numerous problem solving tasks that encourage them to interleave multiple mathematical concepts.  This includes:

• continuing to deepen students’ understanding of and fluency with numbers up to 120 and beyond
• consolidating skip counting skills by 10s, 5s and 2s from zero and other starting numbers (up to 120)
• investigating strategies for addition such as counting on, bonds to 10, building to the next 10, doubles and near doubles
• investigating strategies for subtraction such as counting back, bonds to 10, halves and near halves
• developing multiplicative thinking: including building arrays to represent repeated addition, fractions, sharing and grouping.
