RSC Short Course Meet

What an amazing day we had last Sunday at our Ringwood Swimming Club Short Course Meet!

From the very beginning, our incredible parent volunteers were on deck, with the venue set up in record time. A huge thank you to our set-up team for arriving early and having everything ready with such efficiency, teamwork and precision.

While our entry numbers were slightly lower than usual due to the number of meets being held across recent weekends, the atmosphere throughout the day was absolutely fantastic. With 85 Ringwood swimmers competing, completing an incredible 282 swims and achieving 231 personal best times, our club had an amazing presence and the energy on pool deck was something special. The support, team spirit and camaraderie on display were a true reflection of our club culture, the enthusiasm and teamwork of our coaches, and the trust and commitment of our families.

A special thank you to our dedicated officials, whose professionalism ensured the meet ran smoothly from start to finish.

To our amazing volunteers who don't even have swimmers competing, but still gave up their entire day to help by timekeeping—Brendan, Bryan and Juliette—thank you. Your generosity and commitment to our club is truly appreciated.

To our BBQ crew—Jayden, Steven, Mark, Joel and Vlad—you were outstanding! Not even the minor hiccup of running out of gas at lunchtime could slow you down. Thank you for keeping everyone well-fed and smiling throughout the day.

Thank you also to everyone who served at the BBQ, staffed the fundraising table, sold raffle tickets and lucky envelopes, and presented medals to our placegetters. Your willingness to jump in wherever needed helped make the day such a success. Together, we raised an incredible $1,141, which will go towards supporting our club and swimmers throughout the year.

To all of our parents who volunteered as timekeepers throughout the meet, thank you. Swimming meets simply cannot happen without volunteers, and we are incredibly grateful for your time, patience and support.

Thank you to our chief timekeepers, our catering team, our runners, our team managers, and our expert Meet Manager, Miek, for ensuring the day ran so smoothly. It was fantastic to have the scoreboard in action yesterday!

A special thank you to our marshalling team—Vincent, Erin (a first-timer—well done!), Karen, Alyssa, Rihana and Waye. The morning session was certainly chilly, but you kept our swimmers organised, entertained and moving efficiently throughout the session.

A special shoutout to our Committee for organising meets like this for our club. So much work happens behind the scenes long before race day—from marketing and social media, preparing rosters, purchasing catering supplies, printing meet documents, coordinating officials and volunteers, organising sponsors and fundraising, overseeing the day itself, and so much more. Your dedication, countless volunteer hours and commitment ensure our meets run smoothly and provide a fantastic experience for all of our swimmers, families and visiting clubs. Thank you for everything you do for Ringwood Swimming Club.

Finally, to our wonderful coaching team—Carlos, Lucy, Harsha, Matt, Duana and Celine—thank you for your guidance, enthusiasm, encouragement, cheering, whistling and support from the first race to the last. Your passion for our swimmers and our club creates such a positive and exciting environment, and it was wonderful to see that on full display yesterday.

One of the highlights of the day was watching our Head Coach, Carlos, return to the pool for the first time in seven years. Competing in the 50m Freestyle, Carlos showed our swimmers exactly what dedication, perseverance and consistent hard work can achieve. His inspirational swim saw him touch the wall in an impressive 25.84 seconds. Congratulations, Carlos, and thank you for leading by example and being such a fantastic role model for our swimmers.

Days like this don't happen by chance. They are the result of an incredible community of volunteers, coaches, officials, sponsors and families all working together towards the same goal. Thank you to everyone who played a part in making our 2026 Ringwood Swimming Club Short Course Meet such a memorable and successful event.

We are so proud of what we achieved together.

Go Ringwood!
